Wwe have recently puchased new tablets and with docking station sbut the docking station don't support Dual Monitor that will allow "extending the desktop" will this allow for the much needed capability? Have 2 USB 3.0 and 1 HDMI ports available on the docking stations

The short answer is yes. I have purchased 3 of these and are running monitors up to 24" with resolutions of 1920x1080 on different machines and cannot tell the difference between performance of this or the video card under normal operation. I would run one monitor off the hdmi and the other through this unit. If you don't have an hdmi monitor, buy two of these as they will connect to DVI by default or VGA monitors with adapters that may be included.

Question 2

looking for something that will up the resolution of my second monitor from my laptop.  My laptop is less than 1080.  Is there anything that I can do to increase the resolution of the second monitor?

Your second monitor has a fixed maximum resolution. If using Windows, open Screen Resolution by right clicking an empty space on your desktop background, then click Identify and select the second monitor by clicking its representative screen icon at the top. Ensure the resolution slider is dragged to its highest setting and apply if you had to move it up. Whatever the slider indicates the resolution is when it is maxed is almost certainly your maximum possible resolution for that monitor, and no device will change it. You can cross reference that by looking up your monitor make and model via a search and looking at the specifications. If you need 1080 for a second monitor, some decent 24" monitors can be had for about $100 nowadays if you wait for the right sale...

Does it work with Windows 8?

It uses a diplay link driver, we are using this on a MAC, but I am using a USB Display adapter branded by lenovo (utilizing the display link driver) on win 8 with no problem

Will this work on Windows 10?

I had it working on windows 7 and then 8 (they released a new version of the software). Check the product website but i dont see why they wouldn't have a release for windows 10.
