Would this work for Iphone 5S as well?

As a charger yes it works as any USB port would in charging the phone.  It can connect by wifi to view thumb drives.  I have not used it using the iPhone 5 as it's internet source through the hotspot feature on the phone.

This is a portable, wireless, router with a built-in rechargeable battery pack. It works in conjunction with a modem or another router to extend or replicate existing networks and will not create a signal on it's own.

A Sim card is used to connect a device like a phone or tablet to to a mobile network, and all devices are capable of drawing power from any suitable source, so to answer your questions, Yes and No.

Can I connect this router to my Canon 7D and via my Nexus 2 and the DSLR app operate the camera and download the pictures to the tablet?

I have used this device for connecting portable tablets & laptops for long-distance car driving for kids, and it works fine.  If your Canon and Nexus can both hook up to a wireless router, then theoretically it should work.  What is unknown is how the two devices can find each other; if they just use the local subnet then it should work, but if they have to register their location on an Internet server then you would need a tethering option with your HooToo.

How does this device deserve up media? Do I need an app or will it serve up media via DLNA or can I just map to the USB drive as I would any Windows or samba share?

So, the primary function of this device is a portable router. I used it as a router in my car with an external hard drive to serve up movies for my kids. One had an ipad and the other had an android tablet. You simply install the hootoo app on each device, and you are able to browse the content of the drive. Both ios and android apps worked well. If I remember correctly, I had to install a separate video player (mx player) on the android tablet, but once I did, it worked great. To date, I have used the app on an ipad 2, an original Kindle Fire, and a Nexus 7.  
The other way I used the hootoo was as a router bridge for in a hotel room. For this function, you simply log into the hootoo via a web browser and configure it to bridge the wireless connection at the hotel. This is especially nice for devices that do not have a web browser (such as a Roku), and the hotel requires you to authenticate on their website.
I haven't used it for any other uses, but I think it does have a DLNA function.  I hope this helps.

I don't quite understand your question.  Login to what:  The WebUI?  The Android App?  The actual Wifi access point? Also it is a router device so I believe it's NAT capabilities is only limited by the device that is supplying the actual internet connection's NAT abilities.  I have connected 5 devices to it, and connected it to my phone's tethered internet.  All devices were able to vnc, web browse and a slew of other actions utilizing my phones internet without issue.

this product would connect to a hotel room wired for Ethernet to provide wireless access.  It is an access point.  What you are describing is a bridge.  I don't think this product will function that way.

In my experience, it is is not much. I would plan on connecting as close as you can for a good signal. If you need something that is really terrific and a huge bang for the buck, look at the Securifi Almond Touchscreen Wireless Router & Range Extender. It also makes for a great bridge that you can connect to either wirelessly or by way of a CAT 6 cable. Setting them them up, in incredibly easy. If it takes you more than two minutes to be online, I will be stunned.

Think of it as a miniature WiFi router.  It broadcasts just like the big router in your house except it's much smaller, portable and doubles as a battery.

Hello. I am traveling to Europe and would like to use the device to backup my photographs from my SD Cards to a USB SATA drive. We are basically all Apple products so the SATA drive is OSX formatted. Will that work ? As we will have iphone5s and ipads, I do not want to take my macbook pro. Additionally, can a USB hub (3.0 + backward compatible) be attached to the usb port to connect both multiple SD cards and USB HDD simultaneously to copy files between the devices.

Unfortunately this product does not offer all the options you are looking for. By OSX formatted I am assuming you are referring to Apple's HFS+ format. I tested this out and while this device can recognize the drive, but it was unable to access the files. I also tested out the USB hub option and found that it would recognize all the drives simultaneously but couldn't access files from more than one device at a time - so copying between drives on the HooToo directly is a no go with the current firmware but could potentially be added later. That being said, I was able to mount a 1.5TB USB 3.0 external laptop drive and access the files. If you were to format your USB SATA drive as exFAT you will be able to access the drive from the HooToo and still retain it's Apple functionality and features, they'll even work with Windows Vista and newer PCs. Hope that helps!
