Would this laptop qualify for a free upgrade to windows 10?

I am not sure. Most likely it has no drivers for Windows 10.  I had very very bad experience to upgrade these refurb laptops.  I bought about 10+ but none of them actually worked for Window 10 because drivers not available.  You can always check HP website to find out the drivers support.  The only model I found to have drivers for Win 10 is HP 8470P.  Windows 10 really suck if you try to upgrade by yourself on older boxes.  Otherwise, these refurb are very good for what I need - play movies or use as file servers.

How old is it?

Its about 2011- 2012. When they say c grade that mean it. Mine was all beat up, like bad.....had to replace the hard drive after only a couple weeks. Then the ram went bad. Just so you know what your getting yourself into. Still works after replacing those parts.

Does this come with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 card?

Mine did. I know that there are different configurations availible.  Graphigs card is not upgradeable.  I did upgrade to a I7 processor, 16G memory, and an ssd drive, and it does photoshop and vectorworks fine when travelling (except some photoshope special rendering functions.

How long does the battery last?

My understanding is the batteries can vary unit to unit, but are expected to have some decent life left. 
Of course it also depends on your settings....and I set mine to dim in 2 min, turn screen off in 10 min and go to sleep in 2hrs.
The battery in this one is lasting about four hours for me. It would do better on power saving mode and if I replace the HD with a solid state.
New batteries are supposed to last this model up to 8 hours, they say.

I received my laptop and everything works, but it does not charge. what should i do?

They have sent you the incorrect AC adapter. I would contact Newegg customer service first, and ask for the correct replacement. If they cannot help, then sadly, you will have to contact the seller for the correct adapter.

You can also purchase a new adapter. There are 3 things to match to the new adapter. You will need one with the correct adapter for you laptop (the DC in jack). You will also NEED to match EXACTLY the output current AND voltage to the original adapter specs found on HP's website.
