I just purchased this last night and have it set up but I have no sound ... Do I have a purchase speakers to have sound with this model ?

This is one of the best monitors I've had but It does not have built in speakers, so yes you will need to purchase speakers to have audio sound. But usually monitor speakers don't have very good sound quality, especially for music. If you are looking for good quality sound for music at an affordable price, consider the "Bose Companion 2 Series I Multimedia Speaker System" only $79.99

Does this pivot from completely horizontal to completely vertical, eg, for viewing and editing photos taken from both perspectives?

You can almost certainly adjust the rotation through the video software interface. If it's set to landscape currently, try portrait - for example.

Is this monitor a low profile? I need monitor bottom edge close to desk as much as possible.

No, not at all. Even if you removed it from its base, there is still a 1-1/4" bottom (as in the photo). Note also that this monitor does not have the square mounting receptacle at the back.

It's a very nice monitor, but not quite standard in terms of its mounting possibilities.

Does this monitor have VESA mount holes for mounting it to a multi-monitor stand?

If you mean the square recessed receptacle in the center of the monitor's rear, the answer is no, unfortunately.

The whole thing is very thin and I think that is why it is missing the VESA mount holes. Otherwise, it's a very clear and nice monitor.

will this monitor connect to an older Compaq Presario CQ5504F?

This monitor comes with a VGA and HDMI ports. Not sure how old your computer is, but VGA cables have been used for the last 20 years. HDMI and DVI are the alternatives.

What is the dimensions of the monitor not counting the stand?

19-1/2 inches wide (edge-to-edge) and 12-1/4 inches high, including the bottom bezel and controls.
