I hope the HP 8540P does have wifi. I am a novice. Can someone tell me?

The pictures show many more ports/connections than listed in the specs. Are the pictures for this computer or general pictures from the HP site? Are we to assume if it's not listed in the specs it's not on/in this computer?

Right side also has a slot for a smart card.  I don't have any smart cards, so can't vouch that it works or not.

I think I wrote a review of the computer on newegg.   The one I got looked new.  There was no indication of wear on it.  Maybe the employee that was issued it by their company put it on a shelf and never touched it.  I don't know.    Mine is intel core i7, 2.67ghz, 4gb memory, 320gb hard drive, windows 7 64 bit.   The only thing that was advertised which it does not have is a webcam,  which is really no big deal to me.   I bought a real high quality used Logitech for cheap.    I couldn't be happier with the machine.   I did notice sometime after purchasing it that it contained the sdhc card reader.  I happen to have a card from an old camera,   so I put it in the reader.     So far,  haven't gotten that reader to work.   Maybe I don't know how to use it.  But again,  no big deal.  I did not know it even had the reader in it.   Note the fingerprint scanner security feature is not active on this model.

Is the hard drive rpm 5400 or 7200?

Mine is a Seagate Momentus ST9320423AS.  It is 7200.

I've had it since February.  Only change I've made was to upgrade the memory to 8 GB's.  I only did it so I could run a couple of VM's for dev purposes.

It's a great laptop for the price.

Can i add in this laptop Nadia Graphics card ?

I have increased my ram to 8 gigs and replacing the harddrive from 5400 rpm to 7200 rpm soon.

Does the HP 8540w still have the original HP software that had been installed, or was it removed in the refurbishing process?

The refurbished notebook that I received was well worn (so much so that the keys had stick-on labels because the original keys were worn (or were in a non-English language)). It had been completely reloaded with a non HP version of the operating system, with no other software. The os was so stripped down that even the driver for the touchpad was missing; I found that online and installed it.

Can someone confirm the graphics card the refurbished HP 8540P has? Is it the NVS 5100M or other?

I have a HP 8540W. Has all of your basic specs but it has a
NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M Display driver.

Are you able to turn off or disable the touchpad? Is it easy to switch back and forth? I tend to touch the touchpad while I am typing and strange things can happen if it cannot be turned off. I like to use a wireless mouse instead.
