Does this come with any applications pre-loaded, such as, MS Office?

No.  The only software package that comes with this machine is that of Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit, which is majorly outdated.  Remember, it is an old machine that has been refurbished (Microsoft Authorized Recertified).  It is a good machine for basic computer work such as MS Office, but not good for gamming, video editing, or any other application that requires power and/or speed.

Does this system come with a DVD drive that can read and write CD's and DVD's?

Mine came with a reader only, not a writer. At this price you might expect to have to upgrade a bit. I added a different graphics card and installedinstalled a  DVD writer that I already had. BTW, I am still pleased with mine.

This is a pretty solid PC we use these at my job and have about 4000 of them.  I would suggest getting one.

No, it does not come with a hard copy of Windows 7.  However, it is a very nice system for the price.  HP built these machines as business machines, not home PC's.  So you have the dependability of a business machine working for you.  Factory warrantee from HP will have expired, but you do have the option of extending it for a price.  Plenty of room to build from.  You can't go wrong.

Yes it is Windows 7 Professional, just as it states in the description ...people need to look at the specs and the listings before even considering buying anything .

Not standard.

10 2.0 ports are available 4 front, 6 rear). HP sells a 3.0 upgrade kit which has a 2 port card, power cable, install disk.

According to the manual on the HP site, it will support up to 16 GB of RAM.

1 gigabits speed.  These machines have been wonderful in the network I set it up in. No complaints so far
