does this unit have wifi?

If you mean - can it connect to a wifi network - then the answer is no, not out of the box anyway.  You could easily add a very inexpensive wireless adapter though.

Question 2

Does this come with all of the back up software in case it crashes on me?

Mine didn't come with any third party backup software. Windows 7 was pre-installed already. When I turned it on, I only had to setup my user preferences (timezone, account names, etc)

I keep all my files on an external drive, and most user settings are saved on an external too -- so I try to minimize risk any way I can. So far though, this purchase has posed no problems at all. For the price, it's hard to beat.

Question 3

Any know if 1920 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080 is supported on the integrated graphics ? Trying to drive a dell u 2412m 24" with 1920 x 1200 resolution, or could purchase a different monitor with 1920 x 1080 if the 1920 x 1200 is not supported.

As I recall the onboard video may have nit have met your requirements as the only video option was a vga plug. The machine did not come with the DVI video option which is typically where you will see the higher end video performance. This maching is more of a work horse for a student or perhaps business application. 
I like that it comes with a 1tb hard drive and 4gb ram. The machine runs quite well and you may consider purchasing a add on video card if you're really looking for the high end resolution. Remember this machine is refurbished and the onboard technology is nearly 4 - 5 years past. IMO, its a great buy for the right application, dont expect too much from a core 2 duo processor.

can 2 monitors be connected to this.  If not can you recommend a unit with about the same specs that can?

I can't give a definite answer as I have not tried to attach multiple displays, but I have yet to run into a box that was not able to. Also, by doing a quick google search I noticed something about the motherboard having the capability to display on 2 monitors. Hope that helps.

There are no USB 3.0 ports on this system.  Only USB 2.0.

What is the cpu? Intel Core2 Duo E6540 or Intel Core2 Duo E6550 @ 2.33GHz ? or another

mine came w/ intel "C2D"  : E6550 and the 4 meg L2 cache.
FYI - pwr supply fan was failing, but Joy Systems replaced the PSU.

What is "Legacy Golden age system"?

This was most likely a corporate desktop that was a lease.  It has been refurbed and when you look at the inside, you'd think it was brand new.  Amazingly clean and the Win7 setup only takes minutes.  With a 2.33 Duo core processor, that dates it about 6 years old or so.  Excellent price for a system that can do basic Office and internet functions.  Plenty of memory and nice speed.
