Is there room for a USB 3 expansion card?

There are a couple of USB 3 ports in the back.  You could plug a USB 3 hub into one of those and add ports.  I didn't see any way to hook them into the motherboard.

What do you mean by debranded?

They cover up the HP stickers on the case, mouse and keyboard.  Also when you Click ->This PC -> About it says the manufacturer is TSSI, not HP.

I have not had a chance to look inside, but assuming it has two slots for RAM, is it okay to add an 8GB DDR3-1600 in combination with 2GB DDR3-1600 (Assuming there are two sticks of that, removing one) or use only one stick of 8GB if the combination doesn't work. any suggestion is helpful. didn't want to upgrade just to 8gb and not waste the existing sticks. is that possible?

If I recall it correctly,  per www. crucial. com says I have 2 slots and I can have a maximum of 16GB RAM for the desktop pc I have.

If the SPECS are the same, then it can support 16GB RAM.

It is best to pair them equally to perform it's optimal ability. That is what I have been hearing about. I

f currently 4GB, I can assume it's a 2x2. So if you want to install  8GB, don't leave the other slot 2GB.

You wouldn't wear 1 foot of brand new sneaker with the other old worn out one.

Or buy only 2 brand new tires for the left side only and continue using the old tires on the right.

It may still work but it might not perform it's optimal abilities.

I am exploring possible cheap alternatives for a gaming PC. I am thinking about buying this, then adding a modern GPU and possibly upgrade the  RAM, but I can't find any information on the motherboard. Are there open PCI slots available?

Not really. There is a small PCI Express taken up by the Wireless Ethernet card.  
There are two RAM slots and it can be upgraded to 16 GB. The AMD APU seemed to work well as long as you have enough RAM. I cannot say we have pushed it with too intensive of a video workout.

We grabbed two of these. 
One is running with Windows 8 and is not being pushed too hard. The games primarily used on it are Minecraft and Starmade. No issues with it.
The second computer has Ubuntu installed and has been used for Borderlands 2.  Currently we are experiencing a black screen after it has been used for awhile. It is still being diagnosed.

Question 5

Do I need to buy something not included here if I expect/want it to connect to my WIFI here at my home?  I'm not an expert with computers...to say the least!  I'm wanting the basic, no frills but for speed, reliable computer for my home (Never  do "Games"... 99% my needs are internet, email and typing letters.

It has a WiFi card and Ethernet connection. You will need a monitor if you do not have one. This computer will work well for the needs you listed and should work right out of the box. It comes with Microsoft Office installed and Windows 8.

I bought this computer and notice it does not have an HDMI connection.  Am I missing something, is there one on the computer?  If not, then is there an adapter I can get to add HDMI to the computer. Also, is the computer capable  to add more memory (ram)?  thanks so much for your help.  I bought two of these computer they are working great.

There are lots of HDMI adapters but I wouldn't have a clue as to make any suggestion to you as I don't use that here. There are two memory slots in the computer. It ships with one 4gb DDR3 DIMM. The quickest way to increase your memory is to add an additional 4Gb chip for a total of 8Gb. The main board on this computer is pretty small and crowded. There is not a lot of room, so unless you're experienced with installing this memory, I would recommend that you take it a qualified service tech. It should only take a few minutes to install and test. I agree with you, it's a nifty little box and I like it as well. Good Luck
