Question 1

The specs definitely say "PIVOT".  To me, this means 'landscape' OR 'portrait' orientation.  Pictures of the base certainly don't look like it will pivot.  Can anyone confirm this??  Thanks

You are correct, there is no physical pivot. The lack of tilt/pivot and VESA mount options are really the only drawbacks to this unit. If you download and install the support software from HP, it includes a SOFTWARE option for pivot, tilt, and multiple desktops. That's probably what the marketing text is referring to. I've not used any of those features so I can't speak to them. The color calibration tool I found to be very helpful, however.

Is screen glossy or matte ?

The screen is glossy.  Better definition, but it does reflect the surroundings (lights, windows, etc.).

Could I connect a PS4 to this monitor?

I don't know the exact answer to you question, but it can link up to any standard video card through a DVI, HDMI, or VGA connection.  If your PS4 connects to them, then it should work with this monitor.

It does have a high gloss screen.  I would prefer that it didn't.  It has a 1920 by 1080 max display, so if you need more, this is not the monitor for you.  You won't get a higher resolution monitor for anything close to this price, here or anywhere else.

Does the screen have a glossy or matte type finish ?

The screen is glossy. I read that the smaller screen XI versions are matte, but the 27" is glossy. I like my screen though if you have bright windows behind you, you may want a matte version.

Does this monitor have audio output that can be connected to a speaker?

No audio output on my monitor.  Possible there are other versions of this monitor.

OK ... this may sound stupid, but where is the brightness control on this thing?

There as on-off button ... and that's it.

As a refurb it came with no instructions or a driver CD.

If you touch just to the left of the power button touch controls will illuminate in white. Also you can look on the original manufacturers website to get drivers and software display controls.

what is actual size?  Screen Height? Screen Width?

The actual screen size is 27 diagonal, of course. I had a 27" Samsung (still do) but at the price advertised, how could I go wrong with having a spare. (my vision is not the best in the world so I need a big monitor) It works very well and the backlit screen help see things somewhat clearer.

Size of 17.87 x 24.99x7.56 include the stand ?

Our cubby size in our cabinet for the monitor
 is 19" high and 30"wide.

It will fit.  From my desk to the top of the screen is just a hair shy of 18" and it is only 24 1/2" wide so yes, the given dimensions are with the stand.

does it have speakers?

No, it does not. But that's OK, because speakers built-in to monitors, especially one this thin, are always horrible quality!

Question 10

After ordering I saw a review that says it cannot be mounted. However the pic of the back looks like it has the square VESA mount. Can I get an answer as I must mount this monitor?  If it cannot I will need to return it and get a different monitor.

I don't see how it could be mounted. I don't have any holes for mounting. I guess you could always try making the holes and risk the monitor never working again.
