Question 1

Does this machine have two vga connectors and appropriate grahics support for dual monitors?  I need to run dual monitors and want to be sure this machine will. Thanks.

I don't think it had 2 VGA ports...only one. I can't check for you cause it's wrapped up and sent to my grandson for Xmas. I DO remember being surprised that it ONLY had one old style VGA port...no other type at all. Please don't rely only on my memory though.

Does this come with a boot disk incase I need to reinstall the OS?

The system has the operating system pre-loaded but NO operating system disks are included.

I received the computer itself, along with a generic mouse and keyboard, and nothing else.  No documentation or literature.

JUST PURCHASED THIS MODEL.  SAYS IT COMES WITH WINDOWS 7.  STICKER SAYS IT IS A VISTA OPERATING SYSTEM?

It's refurbished. It has an old sticker for Vista along with an indicator that the Vista software code is no longer valid. It has a new sticker for Win7 and comes with a paper explaining how to activate it.

Is the DVD drive read only, or does it write to DVDs?

Yes. It will read and write. When Id this machine, I had one in the top of my garage. I puled the 2 gig ram and bigger power supply from it then powered it up for the wife. After activating it, I installed a WD 1 TET Blue HDD. Then Put them both back inside, only using the new HDD. Saving the small HDD in case I have to reinstall the OS.

Steve, my unit may differ from the norm; however, it has the usual native VGA output (1) plus an added video card from the previous user.  This card has no drivers installed.  I do not know if the native VGA port will be disabled upon engaging the card.  I have not researched its use, function or capability.  The card has two ports.  One appears to be serial and the other parallel.  Hope this helps.

Yes it can be upgraded to 4GB by adding 2GB more or replacing all memory with 2GB for a total of 8GB

what ram does it come with? brand, speed, etc, are there additional slots? wanting to know because I also want to order additional ram when I purchase but want to order the same ram already installed.

The HP DX2400 which I purchased Nov. 7 came with two (genuine) Samsung 1GB cards, model #M378T2863QZS-CF7. They are DDR2 6400U 667(E6)MHz non-ECC. All the Samsung 1GB cards I have seen online are the faster 800MHz ones.   The motherboard accomodates a total of 4 memory sticks.

I won't support win 8 even if it did you don't want win 8, it's terrible better to wait until win 10 ships IMHO.

No, but you can quickly and easily add wifi with an inexpensive USB wlan adapter from Newegg.

Question 10

Does anyone know if a 'refurbished' computer updates the "system date" or how old the CPU is?  I need to have a PC that is not older than 2010 for a work at home job and not sure if this is or will work...TIA

System date is the current date.  Computers don't maintain a "born on" date, unlike some beer products (apparently).  These systems were sold as new perhaps 6 years ago. Nevertheless they are still quite capable, and with the addition of Win7 are worth what Newegg charges (IMHO).
