HP DX2400 [Microsoft Authorized Recertified] Desktop Tower with Intel Pentium Dual Core E2220 2.40 Ghz, 2GB RAM, 80GB HDD, DVDROM, Windows 7 Home 32 Bit

Pros: Not a machine I'd buy for myself, but as light duty machine for mother in law, should be more than adequate for her uses. Arrived well packaged and clean, inside and out, no bloatware, and with a fresh install of Win 7-- had to enter the product code, activate etc; be prepared for nearly 200 Windows updates!

Cons: No surprise: small hard drive, 32 bit OS, 2 gigs of memory. Having only a VGA monitor port was a surprise, though admittedly my fault for failing to notice. Fortunately, I had spare vid card in my used parts bin, which brought the Windows Experience Index from 3.3 to 5.1.

Overall Review: Even for light duty I would recommend a low end vid card, but be aware the power supply is only 300 watts. I'd also recommend an external back up. For one thing, the machine is old enough it originally shipped with Vista, so no telling how many times the hard drive has been around the barn. My personal choice, after doing the updates and installing needed software, was cloning it to a spare drive.

Pros: Booted up once

Cons: Did not boot up again. I purchased this to provide my lower-income customers with an affordable desktop. Following the first boot, this computer would no longer post. I inserted the RAM in a second rig for testing - both sticks were bad. Replaced the RAM and booted to Windows. Random drivers began failing, occasionally causing freezing and BSODs. I replaced the motherboard and reinstalled - no more issues. So basically I received an 80 GB hard drive, PSU, DVD drive, and case. Thanks, Newegg.

Overall Review: I should have known better, but I'm only out $50. Lessons learned...

Pros: Works! Unit was very well cleaned on the inside. Very inexpensive for what you get.

Cons: Came physically damaged. The back of the case is dented so badly that I had to grind & cut it to replace a card in the PCI slot on top. Even though it is a 64 bit processor, it comes with a 32 bit operating system. Integrated graphics are a bit weak. Integrated sound is even weaker. Hard drive very small(80 GB).

Overall Review: Bought this to use as a secondary computer in my basement. For just surfing the net and word processing, it's great. I wasn't expecting great graphics, so I wasn't surprised when they were weak. The setup and activation was quick and easy, but expect to have to do 100 or so updates. My only disappointment was the poor sound, but that hopefully can be corrected with a $20 sound card.I would not recommend this unit for gaming or video, but for my planned use, it's fine. All for less than the price of a legit copy of Windows 7!

Overall Review: It was actually cheaper for me to buy this computer as an upgrade for an old XP box than it would be to buy a windows 7 upgrade! I had an older xp box that was really fine but xp is no longer supported and with 2 kids I wanted to be on an OS that was getting patched, and with anti-virus protection for win7. So I bought this which was basically the same era as my xp box, pulled the old drive from the xp box (be sure to back it up and format it first) plugged the SATA cable into an extra SATA port on the HP and was good to go. I also had extra RAM that popped right in as well, there are 2 empty slots on the HP, plus I had a flash reader that fit right in as well! I also had an old pci wifi card that took about 5 mins to upgrade the drivers on and it worked great in the HP under win7. If you are looking to upgrade an old xp box circa 2010, this is the way to go.

Pros: good speed, adequate HDD and memory for the average user. The rebate made it actual cost of $65.00 Hard to beat that for a good pc and I ordered it on Monday and it arrived Wed using the free shipping. Great value, a few limitations some may not like but it was perfect for what I needed. A mini-tower so its much easier to upgrade that the tiny cases are because ice cards are everywhere for upgrades,

Cons: you'll still need a wi-fi card and if you look at the back, there's no traditional serial port. I already have usb to serial port adaptors so it was a non-issue for me and I daisy chain it with my mac so I don't need the wi-fi card to have internet.

Overall Review: If gaming is your thing, you should not be looking at "off lease" business computers. They lack the graphics cards and advances sound cards you'd want. But if you are needing something to do everything else with, this will do it.

Pros: This is a "Standard" size case, so expansion cards, an extra drive and replacement parts aren't much of an issue. Has FOUR memory slots, so an upgrade from 2 to 4 GB only cost me 20 bucks. Yeah, the plastic is a bit scratched, but I don't buy 70 dollar (after rebate) PC's for LOOKS,. Nice processor, and shiny-clean inside

Cons: People who give hunks of hardware like this bad reviews are doing a disservice to people who need nice, basic PC's. This PC cost less than the operating system alone. Downloading and installing Windows updates will take a few hours, though it's not difficult.

Overall Review: Mine also came with a nice RW drive, and the keyboard and mouse are quite functional. Well packed for shipping. Fast shipping free. Great machine for a kid, or to set up for dear old mom and dad. Install Google Chrome and many useful apps are all free, along with free online storage. Windows 7 is great, and Microsoft intends to support 7 for another five years..
