Can you upgrade the memory on this laptop?

This laptop has a 4GB module in the first DIMM slot. The second slot is empty and can be used for upgrade with another module.
Total possible  memory is 16GB for this motherboard. The laptop has to be opended like on any other laptop for this type of upgrade. This is easy to to do. 4GB is OK for general tasks. For more enhanced tasks it migth also be beneficial adding a dedicated graphics card.

Does this laptop come with OS Recovery Media?

This laptop does not come with recovery media. It must be created using DVD+R media or similar media and can only be done once. You can create the media using the HP support center application on the laptop.

I'm wondering if I can get this in any other colors.  Also, is there a "trade in" option, or another option where I can sell my laptop?

I'm not aware of any trade in option.  You could always sell your laptop on an auction website.

It has Windows 8, which I assume is 64 bit...but it does not say it is 64 bit, so is it?

HP website identifies the camera as - Front facing HP TrueVision HD Webcam with integrated digital microphone
It also specifies a card reader as - Multi-format digital media card reader for Secure Digital cards

HD implies 1080, and the card reader implies SD only
