I am confused about the offer.  Is the memory on this computer 4GB or a total of 8GB, 4 original with 4 more added on?

The 700 G1 comes with one 4 GB memory SIMM installed.
The 'gift' Newegg is including is a loose 4 GB Crucial memory SIMM
You have to install the gifted memory SIMM yourself
The mother board has 4-SIMM slots.
You install the gifted 4 GB SIMM in one of the remaining three slots
According to HP info, install it in the third slot, which Channel-B 1st slot. This way you will get better video performance. The computer will support 32 GB of memory. You could purchase 4- 8 GB SIMMs and install them to gain maximum performance.  I recommend that you go to the HP web site and search for EliteDesk 700 G1 to download the manual and other documentation which they list that discusses memory that I have stated above.  ....Good luck, Tony

So the deal states that we get a 120GB SSD.  Is Windows installed on the SSD or on the 500GB HDD?  It would be rather silly for Windows to be installed on the 500GB HHD.

The Silicon Power S60 3K P/E Cycle Toggle MLC 2.5" 120GB 7mm SATA III 6Gb/s Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) is a free gift.  It is NOT installed inside the machine but instead is something that comes along with it as a combo deal provided by NewEgg.  If you wish to use it within the machine, you will have to install it yourself.  Further, if you want to have Windows running on the SSD, then you have two choices: ghost the drive image from the 500GB hard drive to the 120GB SSD or install a fresh copy of Windows onto the SSD along with the drivers and all else to make the machine ready to go and then you can wipe the hard drive, using it for data storage or whatever else you may desire.

May I purchase this system with a network card installed?

I purchased this last month and it came with a network card installed. It uses the standard cat5 network connector. We plugged it right into the network router and set the network connections in Windows.  The memory card was shipped separately, which we had ti install ourselves.

How big is the monitor?

There is no monitor with this system, it needs to be purchased separately so it can be as big or small as you like.

does this computer have a wireless card or what it needs to get wifi?

Accepted Answer

No, but it has PCI-E expansion slots so that you can add one if you want. Or, there are ample USB slots to add a USB wireless adapter.   The "ProDesk", which I believe is a lesser model,  does have built in WiFi and wired ethernet, but not the "EliteDesk"  Go figure.

compatible with windows 10?

Yes, it is compatible with Windows 10.
The PC came with an operating system DVD for Windows 8.1 Pro and an operating system DVD for Windows 7 professional SP1.

Windows 7 Pro SP1 is loaded already.
When I was setting up the PC I was asked if I wanted to Upgrade to Windows 10 at this time. 
I did not because I want to try Windows 7 first. My last PC had   XP Pro.

The package also came with two Driver recovery DVD's.

So far I am am pleased with it.

No, it does not have both installed. It comes with Windows 7 Pro pre installed but it is licensed for free upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro. You can perform that upgrade at any time for free using "Windows Anytime Upgrade" feature

No. But you can create restore DVD's or USB through the HP Recovery options.

Will the sdd installed in the computer as main start up drive?

Not sure what you're asking.  However, I am assuming you have a type and meant to inquire about "ssd" and not a "sdd." I have opted to send a summary from PC magazine, "HDDs (hard disk drives) win on price, capacity, and availability. SSDs work best if speed, ruggedness, form factor, noise, or fragmentation (technically part of speed) are important factors to you. If it weren't for the price and capacity issues, SSDs would be the winner hands down."  Also, SSDs wear out because so much is written, erased, and then written over.  But, most computers will be obsolete before they wear out.  You would likely have to know how to program your computer to change the start-up drive to the ssd, and even then I'm not sure it would perform correctly.  SSDs are mainly for data storage.
