Does it has back lit keyboard?

Yes, however you do have to hit the f5 key to turn it on. Excellent laptop though.  Video processing isn't stellar but if you're not a gamer it's great.  My only complaint is the hdd. Why give a laptop so much processing power and ram then put a 5600rpm hdd in it.  First thing I did was put an ssd in it.  Now it's ridiculously fast.

What software comes preloaded on this laptop?  Does it come with the original HP bundled software like CoolSense, etc...?

hello Matt m...i now have had this computer for a month not once regretting buying it and yes it comes with original software like beats cool sense etc the only thing i doubt about this pc is the battery life which is like an hour or so but other than that its perfect

How confident one can be purchasing this refurbished product?
I can be careless about looks ( dents etc), but what if there are performace relatedissues?

I had to return my HP once after I first received it.  The screen had some issues (there were vertical lines going through the entire display).  I have some minimal issues with my beats audio (the subwoofer crackles when the bass is turned up, but I don't really play too much music without my headphones on my laptop.

I have had the laptop for about 3 months now and have had no problems.  I upgraded to an mSATA and also solid state drive and 16gb of RAM.  I don't do any gaming on the laptop, just work/research.

The processor is respectable (CPU benchmark around 7000), graphics aren't that great (you will be able to play movies and some 3D games using low graphics).

Spec for spec this laptop would be about $2000 if it were a macbook.  
No issues on the touchscreen, it responds well.

I am using both linux and windows 8.1 on this machine.

There was one dent on the back after I sent the laptop back, but I was able to take the base apart and push the dent out (some of the casing is actually metal and not plastic).  I have had a couple of scrapes due to my laptop bag not having adequate cushioning.

This laptop replaced my g75vw gaming laptop.

What is the battery life of this product?

It's not easy to answer that question; the simple answer is that "It Depends ..." Two-to-four Hours would be an honest answer. But it is also an Incredible Machine. I always use the AC Adaptor; but if I leave that at home, I don't have to worry. I enjoy the Back-lighted Keyboard, but that can be darkened, and the screen dimmed to lessen the drain. Then I'm sure the time would go up. <><><>

I'd like to know if this has Ethernet?  I don't see it in the specs (though HP's website does) and I do see the RJ-45 port on the pics.  Just want to know if actually has the wired connection, and if so, is it gigabit?

The Ethernet port is on the back right side.  Since the laptop is too thin to accommodate the port, it is a hinged port that pops out a bit from it and spreads apart to receive the cable.  And yes, it is 1gbps.

Does any one know the cache size of this computer? I don't know whether it's 3M or 6M. And is there a Turbo in it?

Cache:L1=6mb, L2=1.0mb, L3=256mb; turbo up to 3.4ghz. 4 cores, 8 threads at 2.40ghz

Can this laptop play 3-D movies? if so active or inactive glasses?

I'm honestly not sure. I'm feel like the hardware components are powerful enough to be able to play a video in 3-D, but I don't know if the screen is made for 3-D. Because even if you had a desktop that can play 3-D movies, you still need a 3-D monitor to view it in 3-D. Sorry, I don't know the answer.
