Question to someone who has made a recent purchase of this model (in the last two weeks or so).  The specs no longer mention a DVD drive, but the Q&A section and the pictures show that it does (or used to).  Is this still the case?

Yes it is still the case. The laptop does support a DVD drive on the right side of the laptop.

Thank you for contacting us in regards to your question. All of our Refurbished Desktop PC/Laptop models advertised to include a Microsoft Operating System do not provide a recovery disc. Any Microsoft OS is now partitioned on the hard drive itself.

Yes, it has a 2nd hard drive bay.  
This is a great laptop too.  I recommended one for an owner of an accounting firm about a month ago and he loves it.  After checking it out for myself, I ordered myself one.  Both work flawlessly and haven't had any issues.  So yes, that's 2 that worked within a month.  I highly recommend this laptop!

If IPS = Intrusion Prevention System, then yes, it comes with a 60-day trial version of Norton Internet Security.

It's true HD, 1920 x 1080. Very nice display.
