Yes, Newegg has the "Tray 3" for an M601n which will be a second 500-sheet tray to fit under Tray 2 of the printer.  HP's part number is CE998A and Newegg has it available on their site for $296.63 today.

I am hoping this printer will print to an Ipad air?

It is a network printer. If the network goes through a wireless router, and there is a driver for the I PAD it will print. I do not know if there is a driver for the I pad for this printer. So if there is a print driver for the I pad and you have a wireless router it should work.

how many sheets can I print from one toner cartridge?

Depends on which toner cartridge, whether it's a monochrome printer or full color, size of the printer and its toner cartridges, and the amount of average coverage of toner on the page (5% vs. 30%) - for instance, the estimated page yield at 5% coverage for an HP 27X (the X=high yield) toner cartridge for our HP Laserjet 4000 and 4050 printers is 10,000 pages, and we printed 12,000 pages before the toner got light on a computer lab printer and we changed the toner out.  The 27A standard yield toner is rated for an average estimated yield of 6,000 pages, but we need the high yield cartridge since so many students use this school printer.

Another example:  on an HP 131A magenta, cyan, or yellow toner cartridge, the page yield is stated as "up to 1,800" pages because our HP Color Laserjet Pro 200 M276nw printer would be damaged if we ran it while it was out of color toner, and we print photos and flyers on it, so we average 1300 to 1500 pages with high page coverage per toner cartridge.    We're pleased with the toner yields because we know what to expect, it keeps the quality high and the printers last a long time.

We ordered the 75 sheet envelope feeder with the printer. I love this product, it is much faster than the printer I was using for envelopes, the output tray holds a lot of envelopes, so rather than having to sit and keep refilling and emptying the trays, I can work on other jobs while printing large runs of envelopes. Sometimes we run long runs of envelopes and the little machine works for two or three straight days (during work hours) and I have not had a single problem with it. The print quality is excellent.
