To answer your question: no, it doesn't come with a DVI cable. It only comes with a VGA cord.

Does the HP LV2311 have built in speakers?

I would love to be able to help you out but I don't really know  My system has external speakers so I wouldn't use internal speakers even if it dd have them.  I don't see any swithch to turn speakers off or on si I assume it doesn't. Hope this helps.

Yes. It comes with a VGA cable and you can also order from Newegg a DVI D cable (like I did) for enhance video.

Closed. I received this monitor myself. Only a VGA cable was included. Seeing as some people claim both, it would be nice of new egg regulated it.

Can you raise the monitor to different levels of height?

No. It stays at the same vertical level. Ican tilt very slightly on the same plane. You would need to take additional measures to adjust height (like a stand or VESA mounted adjustable arm). I've got a VESA mount and adjustable arm on mine and it works great, freeing up much space on my desk.

Not a DVI-to-DVI.  I don't remember if it had any other cables.  The DVI cable is pretty cheap on Newegg but you have to buy it separately, and if my order was any indication you may get the monitor well in advance of the cable (i.e. if you're in a hurry, you might want to buy it locally if that's an option for you).

Does this monitor have HDMI capability?

Does the base completely come off so that we can use a monitor arm?

This monitor has D-Sub and DVI ports.  You can pick up an HDMI to DVI cable fairly cheap.  The picture quality will be the same as HDMI to HDMI.  The only difference in a DVI conversion is that it won't carry the audio signal like pure HDMI, so you have to have external speakers.

We just tested by viewing a few photos with this monitor and comparing straight on view to slight angle - both views looked fine to us. We did not notice any major pixelation, distortion or color change when comparing the two views. It is a very nice monitor.
