Pros: There's a lot to love in a little package, its not an ultra-light, nor super small, but the mixture of a nice artistic finish wrapped around a moderately well equipped system makes it a top pick in my books. Since I'm only a casual gamer and artist, this seems more than adequate for what I'll use it for, with the bonus of Media-Center and HDTV capability (HDMI, Remote, etc), its pretty dang perfect!
Cons: I noticed another reviewer commented on a poor viewing angle, which is both right and wrong. Due to the sheer reflectiveness of the screen, it makes it difficult to see whats on the screen from angles around 140-170 degrees, though the screen itself only seems to dim, theres no inversion or color loss - just lots of reflection. I will never understand the preference of gloss vs. matte finished TFT screens, and is probably the only Con I can think of for this laptop for what it cost me. Viewing outside in bright sun is not just improbable, but genuinely impossible!
Overall Review: [WARNING: GEEK DATA] The processor in this particular model (dv2990nr) is the Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 2.00ghz 667FSB, which may be a fair bit weaker than it's sister system's (dv2800t) Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.20ghz 800FSB. I've seen the dv2800t artist edition (more or less the same system) floating around closely priced to the dv2990nr, so you might just consider it if you're on the market for this laptop. Make sure to always doublecheck anything you read on the internet!
