Really good home PC 6/2/2008 2:46:49 PM

Pros: Quad Core, 4 gigs of RAM, 1TB of disk space, 64 bit Vista.
Very quiet PC. With it on, one can barely hear any of the fans running.

Cons: I bought this from an electronics store instead of NewEgg. The first one I got as DOA and traded it out for one that works. Bought it as a packaged deal with monitor and printer.
The memory & video card isn't the fastest. But adequate for all but the most demanding games.
Does not come with any system or drivers disk. You have to create your own re-image disks yourself from an on-board utility and you have to provide your own DL DVD's (two).
BIOS has no overclocking abilities - very little BIOS tweaks.
Limited upgradeability.
Only one X16 PCI-E slot.

Overall Review: This replaced my 5 year old 2 GB AMD 2500 Barton PC with an ATI 8500 AIW card. I built that one over 5 years ago for the same price as this one with tons better performance.
Pre-installed software is generally OK. Most are trial ware.
I haven't tested the built in dual tuner card, yet.
I did have to upgrade my network hub as the PC's network port wouldn't recognize the network thru my old 10Mbit hub.
A 10/100/1000 switch fixed that.
This is a very good home PC. Would require upgrading video card and power supply to play any of the latest & greatest PC games.

Great value, great performance 5/27/2008 10:11:40 PM

Pros: Everything! Well packaged PC for the money. Lots of features such as multi-format card reader, Pocket media drive bay, larger media bay for additional drive storage or backup.

Core 2 Quad 2.66 GHz, Asus motherboard, quiet fans...and I'm not embarrassed to say I own a HP Pavilion this time's not like they used to be.

Cons: Not really a con for me, but it does ship with a 350 watt power supply. If you plan on upgrading from the 8600GT video card it wouldn't be a bad idea to toss in a 500 watt power supply.

4 gigs of memory on 1 gig sticks...only 4 slots on motherboard. Upgrading requires you to toss out all memory and start over. :(

Overall Review: I have been building computers, servers for about 20 years.

I've added a total of 8 gigabytes of memory, replaced the power supply with a 500 watt installed an Nvidia 8800GT (512 meg) video card, a Blu-ray burner and put Vista Ultimate 64 bit on this machine...Enabled the onboard RAID to RAID-0...1TB of storage.

A note on the cable in the case. I've painstakingly reorganized all of the cable to maximize room and air flow. The 8800GT card I have runs hot, I don't need a bunch of cables smothering it.

Out of the box, Vista Home Premium reported a score of 5.4.

Processor/5.9, Memory/5.7, Graphics/5.4, Gaming Graphics 5.4, Disk/5.9.

After a fresh install of Vista Ultimate SP1 and the above hardware I went from a 5.4 to a 5.8 base score if that means anything to you.

Processor/5.9, Memory/5.8, Graphics/5.9, Gaming Graphics/5.9, Disk 5.9.

It's not bad...If I had to purchase again I would.

Get the HP W2408H 24" monitor (1920x1200) like I did. You'll like it!

Amazing 5/22/2008 12:32:37 PM

Pros: We use Adobe CS3 and this thing is amazing. My boss hardly even restarts it...I don't recomend that but what can you do, it works to good.

Cons: Vista...need I say more...

Overall Review: First thing I did was Max the Ram out at 8 Gig. Now I climb on top and ride it to work, it is that fast.

Unbelievable Value 4/19/2008 10:37:26 PM

Pros: I agree with AWESOME, this system is an unbelievable value for the price! There are so many features that you won't need to upgrade for a while unless you're the type that has to have the first of everything that's new. A Quad core processor at 2.66Ghz, 1TB of harddisk storage, 4gigs RAM, nVidia GeForce 8600GT graphics care (more than good enough for me). This computer is FAST! Windows VISTA?...I'm just now beginning to learn so I can't condone yet all the negative press I've seen about it. I will say its a VERY involved operating system that will take a litte time to learn and be comfortable with. Make your money count for something!! You can't go wrong with this system whether using it for entertainment, school, or business. One of the best purchases I've ever made!

Cons: Not really a con but an oversight by this particular system's builder. When the system first arrived, I first opened the case to view the contents inside. I found that the DVD drive's data cable was not connected at all (glad I didn't turn it on first). Other than this, I've had absolutely no problems at all.

Overall Review: It's been a short while since I've ordered any computer equipment over the Internet, however, I've frequently visited the Newegg web site. I was getting tired of reading all the kudos customers were giving Newegg about their shipping prowess. Well, let me shut up and add my name to that list of customers!! Newegg gets your order(s) done and shipped to you FAST!! I'm impressed!! Nothing like dealing with some other resellers, if you know what I mean!

Awesome 4/14/2008 2:45:32 AM

Pros: Where to start? HDMI built in, WIFI built in, quad core, 4 gigs of ram, 1 TB of storage (2x500 GB) Card Reader. This Machine has everything.

Cons: not a con for me but may be to some the graphics installed is only 8600GT. I do not game so it's more than enough for me. it also gets a 5.7 windows experience index score out of 5.9 so it's got power.

Overall Review: I was going to build a computer, this would be my fourth; But when I saw this deal it wasn't even worth building my own. Pair this with a w2408h 24" monitor also from HP and you will be the envy or all your neighbors...LOL. Seriously though this is more than most people need and is so good you won't have to upgrade next year because of hardware etc. If you looking at this and are in this price range do not hesitate
