Question 2

I have an old Windows XP computer and want to put the hard drive in a USB external box and connect.  I can use my old monitor and mouse.  Will that work on this machine and what USB box should I buy?

Use a USB 3.0 Box as this system has 3.0 ports.  The transfer rate is much better.  Check your monitor inputs as this system does NOT come with an HDMI output.  It only has VGA and DVI.  If the old hard drive is less than 100 GB, I would just buy one of the many inexpensive external harddrives now on the market.  The harddrive case for your old drive will cost between 25.00 and 50.00. A new external drive will come with backup software installed.  Hope this helps.

What video connections does this computer have? Does it have HDMI and DVI?

1 VGA and 1 DVI.  The DVI can be converted to hdmi with a simple adapter but it will be hdmi without sound.  It does not have an hdmi port built in.  Look at the pictures and read the specs.

is it possible to have windows 7 installed than 8 if i purchase this tower?

I don't know if Newegg would install Windows 7 in lieu of Windows 8, but one could certainly reformat the hard drive and install Windows 7 (64 bit) if that was your preference.
FYI, the reason I purchased this computer was because I was upgrading from Windows XP.  I have had no problems with Windows 8, even installing some of the older programs that I like to use in my business even though they are 32 bit.  I have been able to find upgraded drivers for everything and am running at full speed.  I know Windows 8 has a different look and feel to it, but I am starting to find my way around and am finding some rather neat features.  I hope this helps.

Is the graphics card integrated, or can it be swapped out? If it can be swapped out, then how would one go about that?

It is integrated, but you can use the PCI slot to install a separate card.  Then you need to shut the integrated video off in the BIOS.

What graphics cards are capable of being used in this computer?

I have not upgraded the graphics card. I run 2 monitors on the card that came in the computer and they work great. I am not a gamer, but I am running high data graphics.

Question 7

Can I install SSD drive on top of the HDD installed?  Does it have additional bay for hard drive?  If so, would Newegg support the windows 8 media for me to reinstall on the SSD???

Looks like P4(SataPower) and Sata1 Could be used to plug in another HD.  There doesn't look like enough room to mount the Hard Drive.  You would have to consider Velcro or tie wraps...

I've never contacted Newegg for product support.  HP provides a few options to either create recovery media, discs or USB drives as well as an option to order them.  I can't provide the link via this reply but I found the re-install info on HP website.

I actually found this earlier today because I just installed a clean version of Windows 7 on this PC.  Had to go to several different places to gather the USB, Ethernet and Video drivers but I got them and It looks to be working.

I have a problem.
when I started up the computer I saw two pictures.  and one said test and I had not seen this before that I noticed.   I tapped it.  it must have been practice when I got this machine.   anyhow I do not know how to get out of it into  my work place.    can you help me?
