Bought this for business. When setting it up I was very much surprised at the quality for the price. Has a nice feeling keyboard and fast SSD hard drive. The i7 with 8 Gb memory is an excellent choice. 256 GB is a adequate size drive as long as a lot of pictures or movies are not being stored. If there is a storage need I would use an external drive or cloud. The 256 solid state drive will perform many times better than a larger conventional drive.

You say it has two memory slots, with 8 gb installed is it soldered in or can you replace it with 16gb of ddr4 pc 2133, so that you can have two slots with this memory running in dual channel maxed at 32 gb at 2133, wondering as I run ram-disk to prevent overuse of ssd read writes for temporary video capture, instant delete that way with no remnants, and no stress on ssd, so more the merrier?

Memory Slots ARE user accessible. However, 2 x 16GB = 32 GB at 2133 MHz is not supported. The most RAM supported is 2 x 8 GB = 16 GB at 2133 MHz.

Yes. The laptop has 2 USB 2 ,1 USB 3 and ! USB c ports. Take a look at the HP service manual for all the specs and how to take it apart at the HP site . Look for HP450G4

Yes, it has a fingerprint scanner.  I don't use it, but it is located as describe by a previous answer on the right hand side below the keyboard.

How come the specifications for this machine here being sold on Newegg refer to the Backlit premium keyboard as being "optional"?

That's a good question, and I don't know. What I do know is the computer I got (8GB RAM/ Win Pro)  came with a backlit keyboard.

It has an SSD, there are no rpm. I do not know what the read/write times are.

No, just the HDMI and USB ports on the sides.

Does the installed 8GB 2133 DDR4 need to be removed and replaced with 2X 8GB 2133 for 16GB or just install duplicate of current RAM for 16GB?

I installed 2 16gb sticks for 32 total; works fine. I think it will work if you add another 8 or 16 to the second slot.

2) Is there an empty hard drive slot?

1) sometimes it works a little noisy, i think its normal
2) yes, im insert second 2.5" Crucial ssd drive 750gb
3) power brick middle size, smaller than Alienware 17", but larger than Asus Eee netbook
