Is it backward compatible with USB 2.0 ?

Yes,  if you look at bottom of the the specs tab, you will find that it says that it is compatible with USB 2.0.

can i recieve   instructions how to save data on to the disc from my computer?

If you have Windows 7 or 8 or a Mac the process is very easy as this is a Plug-n-Play operation.  Simply plug the thumb drive into a USB socket on your computer.  You will get pop ups on your screen to tell you it has found the thumb drive together with some beeps.  When these stop simply open the windows Explorer and under Computer you will see your new thumb drive.  You can format it by using a right click on the icon and selecting format.  It is now like any other drive on your machine so you can drag or copy files to it as you would with any other drive.  Good housekeeping is to create the folders you want on the thumb drive in the same way you create them on the hard drive and place your copied files appropriately.  I would recommend you download and install an encryption program (free for most OS) and follow the instructions from the program to encrypt the files you want to copy to the thumb drive.  Choose one appropriate for your operating system.  This will safeguard your information should you ever loose the thumb drive.  Enjoy.
