Junk 12/10/2015 5:30:08 PM

Pros: Large.

Cons: I had to return the first HP monitor because it wouldn't even power up. Earlier this evening, I sat here, talking to my wife and watching the screen, which suddenly went blank. It wouldn't come back. I switched in a new Dell I'd bought for my wife for Christmas and all is well, but for me, the big HP, supposedly a factory refurb, was mostly junk. Even the small text was hard to read. Photos showed up well, but text not so well. Then, not quite 18 months in, it goes belly up.

Overall Review: After getting essentially two bad versions of the same monitor, I will avoid HP monitors, and probably all else HP, from this point on. It's a shame as I recall the days when HP was innovative and well made.

Black Screen 9/18/2015 12:54:11 PM

Pros: *Great Picture

*The highest resolution current GPU's can push games on ultra settings while maintaining FPS

Cons: *Had to upgrade GPU (which cost twice as much as the monitor) to be able to run games @ 1440p, and even then its hit or miss. Not a fault of this monitor in particular but still.

*Dying 18 months after purchase. Out of warranty out of luck.

Overall Review: I wish I had bought a 144hz free/gsync 1080p monitor instead of this, would enjoy my games a lot more. Also I've never watched anything besides youtube in 1440p, and not due to lack of trying. Content just doesnt seem to exist.

Garbage! 4/12/2015 8:20:57 PM

Pros: Gorgeous monitor, when it works. Sharp & crisp. It will be painful to go back to 1080p.

Cons: Dies. I'm on my fourth one. This one lasted several months. It has just died. It is surely out of warranty now, and I am the proud owner of a doorstop.

Overall Review: HP really missed the boat on this one. What happened to the quality? They used to make some of the highest quality test equipment in the industry. I should know, I used to work on it. Gold plated circuit boards....

Great No Frills Monitor 8/18/2014 3:41:04 PM

Pros: Fantastic Resolution, great color clarity and response

Cons: This is the NO FRILLS model. You get ONE resolution, and everything is scaled to it. Most the time it looks pretty good. Text can be difficult to read at times due to the small size.

Overall Review: I enabled Clear Type text to help with the readability.
Download a color profile for the monitor online. While it wasn't perfect, it was really close. Unless you do photo/video work, it would be good enough :)

7/24/2014 3:49:15 PM

Pros: None.

Cons: The first one I got never would start; this one had a stand that wouldn't adjust but otherwise seemed fine. Today (7/24/2014) it wouldn't work at all. I couldn't get any picture to try repairs. I installed my old Dell 24" and ran the repairs. MS couldn't find anything to fix and the Dell is working just fine with exactly the same set-up the HP had. I solidly regret ever coming in contact with HP. Their factory refurb set-up is low on quality control.

Overall Review: Ugh.

Cannot adjust height 7/3/2014 7:54:38 AM

Pros: Good picture. Actually, closer to great.

Cons: Cannot raise screen

Overall Review: The first of these refurbs I got didn't work at all. When this one arrived, I was having some health problems, but was able to get it more or less set up satisfactorily, except for the 2-1/2" from desktop to bottom of the bezel. I've tried everything I can think of to get the thing to extend, short of hammer taps. This is uncomfortable to view on its current desk, and totally eliminates any use of portrait layout. Maybe that's next. If this is HP's idea of factory refurb, I'm staying away from all things HP.

Great value 6/27/2014 6:48:50 AM

Pros: The extra screen real estate over a 1080 monitor is massive. Compared to other monitors in this class, getting 2560x1440 at 60Hz on an IPS display for this price is worth it. Sounds like this monitor might have some overall quality issues, so it may be a bit of a gamble, but it has worked out splendid for me so far after several months.

They skimped on software features, but only slightly on hardware. The only issue for me was no HDMI and partially functional DVI. When connected to my MBP with DVI, my only choice is 720p, and since I've heard others voice the same complaint, it clearly isn't a configuration issue.

When connected to the display port, everything is grand. The image is clear, bright and beautiful. I am a software developer, so color accuracy is a minimal concern. I was tempted to buy color calibration software, but I am glad I didn't. Don't need it.

The stand is solid and allows easy adjustment in all dimensions.

Cons: I wish it had HDMI. I wish it worked in tall mode (probably an OSX issue). I wish the bezel was thinner. The pros definitely outweigh the cons.
