does this model, UM433DA-NH74,  have a number pad?

The picture shown in the description is misleading.  The UM433DA-NH74 does not have a number pad.  Other UM/UX series may have a number pad.  The ones that do have a small toggle switch at the top right hand corner of the touch pad to turn on/off the number pad.

It depends on your work flow.  I don't use a number pad.

Does the tilting of the keyboard help at all when typing?

I could take it or leave it tbh.  It is a very slight tilt when the monitor is fully extended.  It certainly doesn't harm the experience using this laptop, but I think it adds more to the cooling and audio system than it does the typing experience.

What Linux Distro's have you all gotten to work?  I couldn't get Ubuntu 18.04 or Linux Mint to boot, but had success with 19.10 Ubuntu, Manjaro and Elementary OS.

An update after a week of use.  In addition to Fedora gnone, I also installed ubuntu 19.10.  So now it is triple booting.

For someone expressing concern about the audio, I am no sound expert, but in both distros rhythmbox played my mp3 files out of the box.  When I plugged in generic headphones, the sound was redirected.

For both distros, two things dont work.  One is the F keys for keyboard backlighting.  You can get around this by launching the gnome power button.  But this is not satisfactory.

The main issue for me is hibernate does not work for both distros, even though I inserted "resume=UUID=" on the kernel line.  This may be a problem with the radeon driver.  When I press enter to wake up the machine, the screen becomes distorted.

Then finally for Fedora, the touchpad will sometimes freeze right after boot.  An external mouse works, but this is not ideal.  So I usually shutdown the machine, wait a few minutes, and reboot.  Most of the time the touchpad will come back.  On ubuntu, the touchpad always works.

i just received this today. Not sure how to turn the touchpad number pad on? Help?

There's a "button" in the upper right hand corner of the trackpad. Long press over it and the numpad will appear and long press again to go back to normal. The button is actually a mini numpad picture so it's obvious.

Is the chassis body and lid top aluminum or plastic?

Both the body and the lid top feel cold to the touch, and do not look/feel like plastic, so I'd guess it's aluminum or some other light metal, yes.

Does it support Linux?

Not very well.  The problem seems to be the UEFI being non-standard.  As of now, no BIOS update is available from the asus site.

That said, I managed to get Fedora workstation installed.  Right now, it is dual booting with Fedora Gnome working.  The keyboard backlight has to be set from a sliding bar in Gnome.  Other that Fedora, I could not get any other distro to boot.  Read my post below for hints.

What is the keyboard backlight color and can it be changed?

It's a white back-light that does a good job illuminating the letters on the keyboard.  I was pleasantly surprised because I've seen a lot of keyboards where the back-light obscured the typing experience and I can pretty confidently say that it isn't the case here.
