The holidays are finally coming to an end and it’s time to embark on a new year. Those of us fortunate enough to receive Christmas presents last week will be ushering in 2015 with new gadgets, trendy clothes, and other fancy household items. And while our “old” stuff still works just fine, we’ll probably cast it aside in favor of what’s new.

You also probably have a lot of empty Newegg boxes lying around.

Fortunately, there’s something you can do with all those items you don’t’ need and put those empty boxes to good use: Help someone in need.

Now in its second year, Give Back Box is once again teaming up with Newegg to provide an easy way for our customers to donate their old (or new) items to millions of people. And if you have a bunch of stuff piling up in your house and don’t know what to do with it, Give Back Box is a great way to reduce waste while helping others.

How Give Back Box Works in 3 Easy Steps

  1. Fill a Newegg box with gently used items you want to donate.
  2. Seal the box and attach the free shipping label.
  3. Drop the box off at any UPS shipping location.

That’s all you have to do! And once your donations are shipped from UPS, they will arrive at a Goodwill sorting facility and sold to fund community-based programs in your area. The Give Back Box program is also completely free to participate in and is an excellent addition to your online shopping experience.

“We have an obligation to minimize our footprint wherever possible – to do right by the environment and our customers. Newegg’s partnership with Give Back Box helps and it’s about much more than simply diverting shipping boxes from landfills – we’re giving our 25 million customers an easy way to donate technology products, shoes, clothing and other necessities to those in need. What began as a modest pilot program is quickly growing into a cornerstone of our commitment to sustainability.”

– Soren Mills, Chief Marketing Officer of Newegg North America

Give Back Box is still in its infancy, but other online retailers have taken notice. Customers of StyleUpGirl.com (Give Back Box’s founder) and Overstock.com (a Newegg Marketplace vendor) can also use their discarded boxes for donations. And, in case you need even more incentive to participate, all donations are tax deductible.

It’s not too late to get into the Christmas spirit — donate your used items today and make a difference in someone’s life!
