What power adaptor is needed for this port?

None Jonas. I have nine WD external drives with their own power adapters and around five portable passport drives that are powered solely through the ports of the USB. No troubles with either set of drives...

I need the power adapter.  What kind does it take?

I used 5V 2A AC adapter with a 3.5mm plug for testing before tore it apart to use in a custom pc project.  It's now powered by a DC to DC buck converter hard wired inside an old PS ONE case along with a Banana PI board.  It provides connections for internal WIFI and bluetooth and four external ports where the controller connectors were.

Just search using '5v 2a 3.5mm' and you should find what you need.
