will this card work with in a regular desktop unit?

For the average non-technical user, I would assume not.

Technically, this card is a mini-pci express form factor (size).  Mini-pciE cannot be directly plugged into a full size pci Express slot, which is the more common slot found on a desktop motherboard.
Note that a given desktop may have 1 or 2 mini-pciE slots, so the only way to know for sure is to search the Internet for the technical motherboard specifications of your desktop.
Let us assume your motherboard lacks a mini-pciE slot... you could then choose to buy a (full-size) pciE to mini-pciE adapter.  This would let you use this Wi-Fi adapter.  However, that would probably be more expensive than just buying a full sized pciE wireless adapter (or just an external usb wireless adapter, or even a wireless access point that you connect to over traditional wired Ethernet.)
For the sake of argument, let us say you bought this and an adapter... the last missing piece that will almost certainly not be in your current desktop pc are 2 radio frequency (rf) antenna wires for connecting to this Wi-Fi card.  You would need to buy a couple of antenna wires with special tiny plugs on them.

Question 2

Is this adapter (Intel 7760) backward compatible with wireless b/g//n?  The specifications show only wireless a/c.

Yes.  It works just fine on all 2.4 and 5 GHz bands on my router.  I haven't had any problems connecting anywhere since I installed it.  The performance across the board has been greatly improved since I replaced the stock Atheros card that came with my laptop with this one.

no, it doesn't.  I put it in my asus laptop and was able to just disconnect the antenna from the old wireless card that I removed and connect the existing antenna to this new card.

Will this card be compatible with the Asus Maximus VII Hero Motherboard for a desktop?

If the board takes this type of card, "Mini" PCI Express. Look in the description of the expansion slots for the board. I looked your board up, and no where in the description does it say it has a Mini PCI Express expansion slot. This style of slot usually come on Mini ITX motherboards, laptops, etc. They have adapters, but not worth it. I would find a card for the 1 x PCIe 2.0 X4 expansion slot, because you want the best transfer rates you can get, or any other card that goes with the other listed expansion slots.

Does  it work on a pc tower computer? or i have a gigabyte ga 990fax-ud3 am3... i just wondering if this fit in or not. Thanks

Most likely not. This requires a PCIe Half length Mini connector. Most desktops do not have this port. This is for a laptop or ultra mini PC such as an Intel NUC.

Where does one install this card?

If you're installing in a laptop there will be a slot this slides into at about a 45 degree angle, similar to the ram slots, more than likely there is already a card in the slot so look for a similar looking card. This is a half size card so the existing one may be the same size or twice the length (distance between screws and the gold prongs) but the width will be the same. The wifi cards are in different places depending on the laptop but typically they're under the same access panel used to get to the ram. It's the same process for a desktop, there will be the same slot if the motherboard supports this type of card. This will not fit in a pci slot.

is this product compatible with a dell inspiron 15 model 7537 laptop?

If the 7537 has at least an available Mini-Pcie half-slot then it should work. I too have a dell inspiron 15 but my model is much older; an Inspiron E1505 bought new in 2005 and this 802.11AC adapter works great! Bear in mind this wireless adapter is only half the upgrade equation though; you also need a correspondingly fast AC router to utilize what this adapter is capable of (867+ Mbps).

This should work no problem just as long as HP has not enabled the allowed Vendor hardware codes in the BIOS.

Also donwload the latest driver from Intel's website for the Wifi and Bluetooth for this card. Their are two file seperate downloads for it so make sure to get both.

Question 10

Can I install this in a Dell Precision M4600?

I am not sure. Physically you might. However I bought this to replace the module on a Lenovo and I discovered that they are locked by BIOS. Dell might have something similar, or might not. I would suggest to try the Dell Forums, or contacting Dell Support
