I have a DV7 HP laptop with wireless N built in.  I want to use your adapter and upgrade to wireless AC and bluetooth 4.0.  Is this doable?

Unfortunately, HP has instituted a Whitelist.  Your laptop will compare your WiFi card against a list of specific cards manufactured by specific OEMs, and will prevent booting with anything not on the list.  This goes to the extreme of only accepting specific variants of given chipsets.  For example, there is *probably* a version of the Intel 7260 chipset that is compatible, but I don't know what variant that is.

You will need to do some research based on your full model number, and make sure you find the specific variant of the card that appears on the Whitelist.  I found several others who have posted similar questions to the HP Support Forums and gotten results.  Newegg won't let me post a link to the forums in this message.

Alternatively, you could modify your BIOS to ignore the whitelist, or add this card to the whitelist.  While I know this is technically possible, the specifics are beyond me, and this action is VERY risky.

does it ship with an antenna, or is that a separate purchase?

This doesn't come with antennas. It is just an OEM mini PCI-e card. It has no instruction manual or driver CD either. The antennas are also 2 purchases... 1) U.FL/IPEX dongles such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2C518A3170. and 2) the physical external Wi-Fi antennas.

Could I plug this card on a PCI-e slot in my desktop PC? Could it works there?

The short answer? No. This is designed for a Mini PCI-e port found on compact desktops and laptops. If your computer does have a miniature PCI-e port, then goa head, otherwise you're going to be very disappointed when it shows up. Does this product comes with the pcie 1x adapter and everything in the video? I am not sure because title says OEM and no pics

OEM almost always means bare-bones, and in this case that is what you get.

The one I received for a roommate came in a small intel embosed plastic clamshell case, and that was it.

This card comes in two versions for OEM, a half-mini card, and M.2 (M.2 is a bit thinner and geared towards space efficency for the ultrabook platform).

If you were to purchase this you'd receive just the half-mini card version of the card shipped in a clamshell plastic case (in a newegg box or "Jiffy-Pac" of course).

The video demonstrates essentially the same card, just in it's retail packaging, so it comes with all the extras that would be expected.

If you are looking to get this for a desktop the retail version of the 7260 can be had on other sites. If you are looking to get this for a laptop, this will most likely work for you.

Will this card work with WPA2 Enterprise Encryption (PEAP/TKIP)? And what kind of antenna should I purchase in order to use this with an Intel NUC?

Hello,

I checked the intel wireless properties for this device while I was connected and it is defaulted to TKIP Personal. I checked the drop down and it allows you to select TKIP Enterprise. I do not see an option for PEAP.

So yes it does support TKIP Enterprise.

I have the NUC with the Intel Core I5 processor and the antenna is internal and is already provided with the Intel NUC and is separate from this wireless device.  The NUC also has the connecting wires that are required to plug into this wireless device.
The wireless device comes in a package just as shown in the picture without any additions.  Once you have the wireless device everything you need to get it working is built into the NUC.

What comes in the box? I want to use this on a desktop. Wandering if it comes with antennas or at least the extensions that plug into the card itself.

This is for a laptop. You will not find a mini pci express slot needed for this chip in most desktops (some HP and Dell actually do but it's not common) and if you had one of those few you wouldn't be looking for an antenna because they have the antennas built in. Will this be compatible with desktop computer?

To my knowledge it is compatible to any motherboard that has a mini pci express socket and is explicitly supported by the manufacturer with supplied drivers ; Otherwise ,the bluetooth wireless may not function. In my case I used it in an HP laptop that is supported with an HP supplied driver and is microsoft WHQL certified. Furthermore, it has to be used in conjunction with an AC router to get the full potential out of it. With an  N router I get a maximum of 130 Mbps where my AC router achieves a maximum of 900 Mbps.

Is this card compatible with Windows 8? Replacing a Ralink RT3290 that seems to have compatibility issues.

I don't know if it's Windows 8 compatible.  I believe it is.  I installed it in a Windows 7 laptop and I'm trying to connect it to my new Apple ac router and it won't connect on the 5Ghz band only 2.4ghz will work so I returned it.

Question 10

I want to upgrade my gaming PC to 802.11ac, but i just not sure if I can just plug and play. Will I need an antenna, or can I just stick the card in and go?

Bottom line if already have mini PCI express card in your PC lap or destop, the antennas are there, if not you will need them.  But be careful removing and plugging back in the antennas, do it by hand w/o tools, I used watch screwdriver and messed up one antenna connection forcing me to buy second adapter.

Suggestion:  search youtube,  it was helpful to me.

In my case, I just upgraded my two laptops, one had intel centrino 2.4/5 Hz and second Broadcom 2.4 hz only.  On the laptop, for me Dell XPS L501X and Samsung RT510, the hardest part was get to the card, after that  you have 1 screw and two cables (antennas) to disconnect and connect.
