I have a SONY VAIO  VAIO(R) VPCF22SFX/W model and wanted to know if this SSD would be comtaible with my laptop?

If in case it does not improve performance can i return it within the same week of its arrival?

Karanbir, you need not concern yourself about returning this drive. First of all, it will not fit in a laptop. It is about 1 and a 1/2  times deeper than an ordinary 2.5" SSD. Secindly, it needs 4 PCIe lanes to run at optimal performance.  To make this happen you would need an empty M.2 slot rated for PCIe generation3 to install the required hyper drive and an available SATA connector. Both the connections come off the Intel supplied  cable that is attached to the 750 drive. From the drive it splits to go to the M.2. mounted hyper drive and to an available SATA  connector. So no, it won't work in your laptop. If you have a PCIe gen 3 M.2 slot  you could try and get your hands on a Samsung M.2 951 PCIe drive the performs pretty close to the Intel 750. It does better at some things and worse at others. If you go that route be sure of the rating of your M.2 slot. As far as I know only the X99 chipset and the new Skylake motherboards have that gen 3 M.2 slot.

Question 2

Are there any heat issues with this drive?  Would this be better than the pci version of the drive?

Hello. I cannot truthfully answer your question. I did purchase two of these in hopes of setting up RAID 0, but unfortunately, the motherboard does not support the new Intel cabling format. So I ended up returning the two drives and buying two PCIe versions of this drive. Unfortunately, the motherboard does not support RAID on these either. ASUS is aware and is currently working on getting these drives to RAID levels.

As far as heat issues, that would depend on if you're using XATX or a mini ATX case. The larger, the better.

Will this ssd work out of the box on my Asus x99 Rampage v extreme?
Do i NEED a M.2 Adapter? i can i just connect it via NVMe?

I think you going to need the M.2 adapter (Asus Hyper kit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1N837Y9766). I have this drive with my Asus X99 Deluxe using the hyper kit and it works great matching expected benchmarks for this drive when I benchmarked it with iometer. Looking on Asus's site at your board's specifications it says nothing about a U.2 connector (SFF-8643). So if you want the Small Form Factor 750 you need the M.2 adapter. Below is a past straight from Intel's product brief on the 750 relevant to your question: U.2 2.5-inch Small Form Factor. The Intel SSD 750 Series U.2 2.5-inch provides a cabled solution where an accessible PCIe 3.0 slot is not available and the motherboard has been provisioned with an U.2 connector (formerly SFF-8643). This solution is attractive for small form factor and multi-GPU systems where space is a premium. This flexibility also provides a viable direct attach solution for small form designs with an U.2 connector (formerly SFF-8639) on board.

Q1)  What is a good choice of reasonable price/performance motherboard? 
A1) Z97 otw out - Z170 otw in. ASRock Extreme6 Z97 is a good choice for a "reasonable" price per performance motherboard, as is the Fata|ity Professional. The ASUS Z97-Pro WiFi is another good board in that range. There is no long term data for the Z170 based boards as to quality or durability as they are new. If that is route you want to go, I have to say stick to a  trusted brand with what you need, but away from boards with too many bells and whistles. The more piping, the easier it is to plug up the works. My default would again be ASRock Z170 Extreme6 or the GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-UD3.
Q2) Will it need M.2 adapter?
A2) The term M.2 adapter is not quite accurate. You will need the M.2, M-Key kit for either board. Both ASUS and ASRock make one. It is a M.2, M-Key PCB with the M.2 to mini-SAS (SFF-8643) connector allowing the 2.5" Intel 750 Series NVMe SSDs to attach to the motherboard M.2 socket. However if you have an NVMe drive like the Samsung SM951 (MZVPV512HDGL), the drive will fit as is.

Here is a good link that will give you any spec's you need.
I went with Intel's i7 5930K processor on an Asus Sabretooth X99 motherboard, Intel 750 2.5 400GB SSD and an Asus M.2 Hyper kit to interface the drive to the motherboard.
Take a look at the Asus Z97, Sabretooth Z97 and Rampage V motherboards.  There is a good breakdown on PCDIY website under Asus dated 2015.  A very good explanation on what you are trying to do.

How long is the cable?

seems like it was about 12" or so , and man is it fast WOW 
but needs some set up to work , if your going to use as a boot drive 
also needs the hyper  M.2 card or port on your mama bored, 
hope that's some help , it is not a very long cord , it would have been better if it was a bit longer, but i did not have any issue with finding a spot for it , cooler master cosmos 2  asus x99 deluxe  bord has a port on the ege of the bored for the small M.2 , if i would have had to put it in the PCIE slot it would have been a different job as it is not very long

Can you install other drives with it. I have a intel 530 ssd?

where does the power connecter connect to. Intel stated that it connect on a pci power connecter not a sas or sata connecter, I don't know of a pci connecter that it would fit on. it does connect to the same power connecter that my older ssd intel 530 does

I want to upgrade my PS4 hard drive and was wondering if this would work?  Also, would there be a benefit over the Samsung 850pro?

This SSD requires a firmware that supports NVMe, and either a pcie slot or SFF-8639 (mini SAS) interface.  So in a nutshell no.

will this work in this slot?  PCIe 2.0 x16 - full-height ( x4 mode )

this unit needs a hyper kit to connect to a M.2 slot on your MB. If you got the pci version, the faster slot (16X) with the correct board and cpu will maximize the data lane usage. just because it will work in the slot you mentioned doesnt mean your getting the best performance of the drive.

How long does it take you to boot with the drive? Does this have the extended boot time that the pci version does?

haven't timed it, still working on another issue I think my current peripherals are delaying by boot time because there is a issue i have that is there from before i got this drive.
