Does this item have a cord to connect the computestick to the power source or is that a separate item to purchase?

It does come with a cord to connect to power, but it is fairly short. It is a standard USB cable though that plugs into a wall charger which is also included. So if it is too short it is easily replaced.

Does anyone know how well this system runs on Windows 10?

It runs ok. Only issue I had was the Intel Win 10 32bit drivers on Intel's site would not install.  I looked around web and finally found

"support lenovo com/us/en/downloads/ds040016"  since they don't allow links you will need to enter the . in between support and lenovo and com.

Even though this is not the Intel compute stick driver, it does install  99% of the missing drivers.  Video and Audio and bluetooth drivers  do install correctly with these drivers.  Only a couple of items left that are unidentified but I haven't noticed any issues with out these items correctly identified and all drivers installed.  I will keep a look out for Intel to "fix" the Win 10 drivers for this device but now that my video, and bluetooth are working I am not real concerned since I have what i needed.   Otherwise I have been extremely happy with this purchase.

will it have free upgrade to windows 10?
or to another 64-bit OS?

FOLLOW UP---

According to howtogeek dot com; you can later do a clean install of 64-bit Win 10 after you have upgraded to the 32-bit version. The 32-bit version must first be activated.

Question 4

My daughter uses adobe to enhance photos professionally.  It takes 3 to 8 hours to process a picture.  Can she use Intel stick 
along with her Windows computer to process faster?

I dont think it will help. Although it works great for some minor tasks, it is not a power packed machine... It is the size of half a cellphone. Unless she is using the Windows computer to process then the compute stick to surf the web or whatever while she is waiting.

For what it is, the compute stick so far has worked flawless at home for Hulu, and for watching DVD's streamed across the network.
 
Upgrading the OS to Professional adds functionality, but I am still testing so I cannot speak on how completely functionable it is with the domain.

Question 5

If I hook this up to my tv, how would I type and use a mouse?

I use this on a 32" Vizio TV. When you first set it up you will need to plug in a wireless keyboard and mouse or use a USB hub to plug in wired keyboard and mouse. Once you have done the initial setup you can go with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard which is what I do.

What version of Win 8.1?  Home / Pro?  I am guessing Home.

Loaded with 8.1 home, but promptly upgraded to Windows 10 Home without issue. MUST follow Intel's directions on how in order to fit on device. I recommend you upgrade right out of the box. Also, built I WiFi is SLOW. I added additional WiFi externally in order to get decent speeds. Otherwise, things as simple as streaming Netflix will buffer, rebuffer, etc.

Does this item come with a windows registration Key and a usb or dvd iso? If one were to install Linux, then wanted to restore it back to windows later, obviously a Key would be required.

This product does NOT come with the key, USB, or DVD.
If you want to install Linux and go back to Windows, you will need a new key. Unless you download some software that will locate the key in the registry of Windows 8.1 I believe Magic Jelly Bean Key Finder was a product I used once for that purpose but on another PC.

Is this good for gaming? I want to play minecraft with shaders @ 1080p. also csgo and Dayz sa all on high @ 1080p. I wanna use it for streaming. thx :)

I would not recommend this for gaming. This is a very lightweight PC with only 2GB of RAM. We are using it for our conference room computer to hold meetings and stream videos. It might be able to run Minecraft, but I would look for something with a bit more RAM.

Can i expand the 2GB memory to something like 8GB just by inserting an additional MicroSD card? Am asking because today's operating systems need more memory to function properly.

Technically this isn't "Memory" it's storage space, the card will allow you to store more files, but it won't improve the ability to run apps. It may allow for a bit more swapping space for memory, but it's unlikely to give you any additional capability for larger programs

If you have two available HDMI ports on your LCD panel can you use one for power and one for the device to plug into?

No, you really want to connect this to power outlet.
This one uses much more power than other android sticks.
and it's not HDMI, USB port.  You put this stick to HDMI port and then connect micro USB to USB port.  I tried with 0.5A powered USB port but this stick simply requires more power I would say 2A.
