This is a solid state drive (better than a hard drive). it provides some memory and storage but is mainly used for performance and speed. it has ridiculously fast read/write speed coupled with ultra-low latency. if you are looking for more memory (RAM) then i would recommend G.SKILL TridentZ. first find out how much RAM can be installed on your computer. press the windows key and the pause key and you'll get the system folder. A 32-bit system can support up to 4GB of RAM. A 64-bit system can support up to 128GB(windows 10 home) to 2TB (windows 10 education, enterprise, pro) of RAM. Hope this helps.

Will this work on a motherboard with an AMD cpu and chipset?

Yes it will, but make sure you have a U.2 connector on your motherboard or space/layout for an M.2 => U.2 adapter.

My 905P 480GB U.2 was purchased to be a boot drive with an X470 motherboard and a Ryzen 2700X, which it does splendidly with the M.2 => U.2 adapter I have.

i dont understand the read and write speeds how fast is it?
