they are six feet long, the USB and, audio jack are about 20 inches long on the computer side, two are permanently attached and, two are removable.          I have two wireless mice (one for each computer) there small, so I use one for each, two monitors and, share keyboard. hotkey (press control twice, number, then enter) to choose PC. I have to say, if you have volume control on keyboard it won't work (pass through) but, I use hotkey F10 for volume control, just look up volume on desktop.    I would give it a 9 out of 10, works very well.

Will this product work with Linux? I have one computer with Ubuntu.

Yes it should since I have one computer with ubuntu. In reality it should not matter what os you got on your computer since it is just sending and pulling signals to the right place of the mouse keyboard, monitor, and audio.

Question 3

Will this item work without using the monitor connections? I need a KM switch only (no video). I want to use a single keyboard/mouse and switch control between a desktop and a laptop - keeping the monitors separate.

(Some of the software-based solutions will not work because the computers are on two different networks.)

Sometimes I use ONLY the monitor connection, sometimes just the KB and Mouse.  You should have no trouble using the switch the way you describe.  By the way, this is a wonderful KVM switch - audio is a bonus.  Great price from NewEgg as well.

I am trying to decided between this product or the IOGEAR GCS24U (manual switching and no sound).  I'm not too concerned about having audio, however, I do need something that has dependable switching between computers. I have read most of the reviews and people seem to have issues with using the "scroll look" keys to switch between computers.  I have a standard HP Keyboard and mouse so I don't think it will be an issue. Which one would be better quality when it comes to switching between computers?

Here's my take on your question. The Scoll Lock may require repeated tries no matter what keyboard you are using, manual switching is a nice alternative in that case; as well as being able to switch systems when booting up e.g. to enter BIOS passwords so each systems gets to a Ctl-Alt-Del screen about the same time. For me, sound is important so I prefer a Switch that pushes it through to the speakers. This goes back to 1985 as I have experience with systems from DOS,WinO/S,95,98,ME,XP and one of the things that drops first when the O/S is going funky is the sound drivers. I have found that always hearing the Windows Start Up Sounds is one way for me to know everything is working properly. In my trial of the IOGEAR Switch that I purchased, it worked fine. What I liked about it was the configuration as all the cables were easily placed towards the rear of the unit, leaving a smooth presentation face. Other Switch manufacturers use an 'Octopus' design where cables are coming out of all four sides making for a less than elegant presentation to the user. Hope this helps.

will this unit support Logitech wireless keyboards and trackball mice?

I use a Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard and Kensington Expert Mouse Trackball, both wired. so I am not 100% sure.

However as I understand how wireless devices function I would think you should not have any issues.

The wireless simply replaces the wire and as long as you don't have other wireless devices broadcasting on the same wireless channel you should not have any interference and I believe you should be fine

Yes It works with Windows 10.  I am using it on Windows 10 now...I control 3 PCs with it and I have multiple monitors connected to my main PC....no issues

It should since all it is just hooking up usb and monitor devices. Also it says full support for macs, windows, and sun systems in the specs. I have my windows and ubuntu desktop together on this.

Scroll-lock is used. Tap Scroll-lock twice, then a digit 1-4, then hit enter.

It came with all the cables for 4 machines it works as described Three servers one one 2008 and the other two on 2012 and works perfect
