Is this product XP sp3 compatible?

Yes it is. I am using it with an XP SP3 laptop that has no HDMI, sending it to my TV. I tested and found that Potplayer worked with it while VLC Mediaplayer had issues. Codec related most likely. I am very happy with this device, being able to use my external hard drives of movies from my non-HDMI laptop.

Question 2

I have an All in one Gateway ZX4250 desk top computer. Wired mouse and key board. 21 " screen.  I wish to add another monitor (no necessarily a TV but possible) in order to work on two screens.  ie spread sheets, word processing and web page cut and pasting.
Windows 8, 4gb ram, 500gm hard drive.  Unit about a year old purchase.  Will the IOgear do what I want?  3 usb ports available, one in rear and two on side.  thanks  tim

Some background:  My computer is a custom gaming laptop, and I needed an extra screen to monitor computer performance and do the occasional web browsing.

As far as I can tell, this will do what you need it to do.  I leave task manager and other low-graphics program on my other screen and this card handles it fine.  I would not use it to watch videos or play games on the other screen cause this can cause it do die prematurely.  I've been using mine daily for the past 8 months without any problems or hiccups.

Question 3

Will this work for gaming? I have a really good gaming card but want to play on my HDTV. Or do I just need to upgrade to a gaming card with a built in HDMI?

I would strongly recommend getting a graphics card with an HDMI port.  Main reason is heat.  My GTX660M reaches as high as 140F with the fan on maximum.  This external graphics card does not have any cooling fan, so it can potentially overheat and burn out (if it even has the graphics power to run good looking games).  I use mine to run my 3rd screen since my laptop only has one HDMI port.  On that 3rd screen, I only put stuff that are not graphically intensive such ad Teamspeak, Task Manager, and browser.  So far, I have no faults to complain about.

I'm running two monitors off an AMD Radeon HD8570 on Win8 thru one onboard HDMI and one onboard DVI outputs. I want to use this to run a third HD TV as an additional monitor simply for productivity, ie have additional windows up and visible. Is this a sufficient solution for a THIRD Monitor?

Yes, I just did this and after you install the io gear software then hookup the monitor it works great.

Does this work with MAC Books?

Probably does work with Macbooks, but to be sure ask IOGEAR either online or call them.  The worst-case scenario is to buy it from Newegg and if it doesn't work then return it for a small restocking fee (less than $7.00?).

Only one HDMI outlet for this device. Work very well for me as the monitor has HDMI port.  
No other port else.  Not sure you may use the adaptor HDMI to HDCP connect to monitor but worth a try.

I am trying to connect my computer to my TV so I can view photos and watch programs there rather than on my laptop.  I have the IOGear attached and software on my computer but I can't get it to work.  What am I doing wrong?

Well, you haven't said much about your laptop...

When I originally bought mine, I used a desktop which was running  Windows XP.  I installed the software and it worked very well.

Because I was using it with a camera (video chatting), the computer did not have enough "steam" to do both HDMI and video capturing at the best resolutions, so I tried Linux (Ubuntu).

Of course I was not able to install the software (it is Windows only).  I tried very hard to get both monitors working at the same tie on Linux, and was never successful --though it did work very well using just it as a monitor and, the camera, of course.

If you have a powerful-enough computer, it will be best with Windows.

Does your computer recognize it when you plug in the USB connection?

If you are using an HDMI switch-box, as I was, you may need to have it switched to the IOGEAR port before you plug into the USB port.

Where can I get a replacement power supply for GUC2025?

This device doesn't require a power supply.  It gets power through the USB.  It you need a new USB cable you could try searching for that or ask new egg customer support if they have any suggestion.
