Will this system work with SATA ports that are other than SATA 3(SATA 2 is what I have)?

SATA II specifications provide backward compatibility to function on SATA I ports. SATA III specifications provide backward compatibility to function on SATA I and SATA II ports. However, the maximum speed of the drive will be slower due to the lower speed limitations of the port.

Question 2

Am I able to access SAS drives through this cage without needing anything additional ie an SAS controller?

There are only sata contector on the back and sata power, and 4 pin power. Look at the picture from newegg product page. It does raid only if you have a controller for it. It is not built in controller you need to have one. Also the drives are close together and do run a hot in the cage. Had a seagate enterprise drive fail in the cage. Does not run raid well, had alot of raid problems in the cage. Kept rebuiding my raid.

Question 3

Is fan 80mm or 70mm?

Manufacturer's webpage says 70mm fan.
Newegg  "specs"  tab  says     80mm fan.

Which is it? If I can't replace a failed fan with a standard 80mm fan and a fan of my max RPM/noise choice, then it really doesn't meet my needs.
