seems like a silly question...but where does this get mounted in the case? Does this cover the existing fan where the power supply normally is (for the StarTech front power supply case)? Or does this somehow replace the 60mm case fan with an 80mm? A picture of it installed would be worth dozens of words :)

There's actually a cross bar, from the sides of the case, in between the drive bays and the mobo location. This fan mount attaches to that. I use two of them to pull air from the front of the case over the mobo. The case fans on the rear continue the pull and force the air out the back. This guard can slide anywhere along the cross bar provided your other components allow it to. Hope this helps, lemme know if you have any other questions.
