Will the product handle 4, 3-TB hard drives?

I've got three 1TB and one 3TB drives running in mine. The chipset had no problems at all accessing all 3TB of the large drive (or the others) right out of the box. I'm running a Mac, but as noted if you are using Windows make sure your OS can see past the 2TB barrier.

Question 2

I am having Delayed Write issues when using the USB connection VIA USB 2.0 on my motherboard. After I start copying files from one  drive to another the drives in the top 3 slots disconnect after a few hundred meg and after a minute or two they reconnect. I've also tried using the ESata connection to my PCI SIL 3124 card which says it supports port multipliers but the same issue happens with that connection, except the drives don't come back after time. Does anyboy know how to troubleshoot this? I am hoping to resolve this without an RMA. Also I sent the rebate in and I am afraid NewEgg will make afuss about that although I am asking for a replacement so it shouldn't make a difference.

What HDDs are you using?  Some drives not made for use in a NAS, ESPECIALLY Western Digital (WD) Green Drives, do not function well at all in a NAS environment.  They will drop offline, then reconnect, and the RAID controller will rebuild the array.  Or if more than one drops, depending on your RAID configuration, the whole array could corrupt.

I have one of these in service running four 3TB Seagate drives in a RAID5 array that has been running 24/7 for over a year with no issues.

Does it works on the 2.5" drive?

There are 4 plastic racks that slide into this unitl.  hey are made for 3.5" drives.  However, there are plenty of spacers being sold for cheap by Newegg that ought to work just fine.  Search for:

Question 4

When you install multiple drives in the unit and connect it via USB, does it present each drive separately, or does it present one drive that is a combination of all of the physical drives?

I have at the moment 3 Drives in and currently using a usb 3.0 connection.  Each drive is a physical drive letter.

Question 5

Does this support a 4tb drive? I put a 4tb drive in and it asked me to format. The drive is full. I then pulled it out and put the drive in a different case and all my data was still there and it didn't ask to format.

Accepted Answer

The box and documentation state maximum 3TB drives supported.  Hopefully a future firmware update will allow for 4TB but for we are limited to a maximum of 12TB of storage.
