What type of batteries does this mouse require?

Does this mouse work with windows 8? and what is the battery life of this device?

I have purchased 6 a different times. It works well with Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 Hard to say how long the battery life is. As I have not yet had to replace the batteries. So, I would have to say quite awhile. Does have long range. One I purchased was DOA. Could not return it. It was over 30 days before I sold it.

Will this work with any Apple OS's?

I use it on PC but it's a standard wireless USB input so it should be fine.

Will this work with an existing Kensington model 64390 wireless keyboard?

Can this mouse be used with a desktop and/or a laptop?

I would say yes to 100% assurity, however, there are some compatibility issues depending on operating system and hardware. Some power supplies that are already maxed out may also have problems. If you are asking about a prebuilt system with no other gadgets or gizmos hogging USB slots, then you should not have any problems.
