Can i use this ssd with an Intel NUC? (NUC5i3RYH to be specific)

No I do not see the msata port one the nuc so I can not guarantee that you could. You can use a regular ssd 2.5inch with sata port like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2W02KJ5977 but I would probably go with at min of 200 plus gigs because you only have one drive in the machine unless you are going to get external drives, clouds, or nas for storage.

Will this mSATA drive work with late version Linux, like Ubuntu?

Yes.  I have successfully installed various flavors of Ubuntu on this mSATA.  Xubuntu 14.04 and 14.10, Ubuntu Mate 14.10 and 15.04, and Ubuntu Gnome 15.04.  Currently running Ubuntu Gnome 15.04 with no issues.

I wanted to know if you could use this mSATA HD in place of a 1.8in HDD? (Currently looking to put an SSD in an HP Elitebook 2504p, which is a 1.8in HDD.)

You can place this mSATA drive into the laptop if you have proper adapters for it. A 1.8inch HDD will more likely have a standard SATA connection -- and I would strongly suggest going with a straight 1.8inch SATA SSD.

I have this device placed into a M.2 adapter and it works perfect... just a bit of a hassle with clearance. But that's my fault not anyone else.

Would this work with an Asus Q550LF?

Only if it has a mSATA connector. I looked up the Q550LF and based on the specs provided on Newegg my guess is it does not have a mSATA slot. You could open the laptop and see if there is one or look at a more detailed spec sheet from ASUS. If there isn't an mSATA slot explicitly listed I would assume there isn't one and that you need a full sized 2.5" SATA -III SSD instead of a mSATA drive.

From what I understand the 2009 MBA does and does not have a mSATA connection depending on the exact make and model. Some have mSATA and others Instead it uss a ZIF connector for the hard drive. The best thing you can do is take the back off and take a look at what you have.

Yes, as a storage drive. To set it as the boot drive in the BIOS would be tricky. This setting never seems to "hold" and the machine sometimes gives you the "select boot device" message.

it's an SSD you have to purchase a 3.3 volt mSATA adapter usually like 10 dollars, very fast drive tho. I'm happy with the ones i purchased
