Our History of Ingenuity
After immigrating from Russia to the United States, Isidor Leviton opened a small tin-smiting business in 1906, where he produced mantle tips used for gas lighting. With the invention of Edison’s light bulb, Leviton shifted to manufacture a single electrical product: the pull-chain lamp holder. During our earliest years in business, the population of New York City began to increase dramatically. Leviton supplied the switches, outlets, light sockets and other electrical parts for them. During the 1940s, Leviton also helped manufacture parts for machinery. Our Journey from electrical to lighting to networking, Leviton is engineering thoughtful solutions that help make life easier, efficient and productive.

Leviton Surface-Mount Telephone Boxes are ideal wherever telephone connections are needed, these boxes are durable and easy to install with screw terminals that ensure secure and reliable connections. For connection of monitored security systems, a shorting bars configuration (RJ31X) is also available providing for equipment disconnect upon security system activation and call-out.
