Question 1

Lexar NQ780 vs NM620: is the Gen4 drive worth choosing?

Accepted Answer

Choose the NQ780 if your system supports PCIe 4.0 and you want higher rated sequential read performance: its 1TB model is rated up to 6,000 MB/s read, while the NM620 is a PCIe 3.0 drive rated up to 3,500 MB/s. The NM620 can suit a PCIe 3.0 system or everyday use when its lower peak-speed specification is enough; the NQ780’s Gen4 advantage depends on compatible hardware and workload.

Question 2

Lexar NQ780 vs NM790: which is better for a gaming PC?

Accepted Answer

For everyday gaming, either is a PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 2280 option; choose based on current price and capacity. The NM790 has higher rated peak speeds at 1TB—up to 7,400/6,500 MB/s read/write—and a 1,000 TBW rating, versus the NQ780 1TB’s 6,000/2,500 MB/s and 600 TBW. The NM790 is the stronger fit if those higher specifications matter for your workload; the NQ780 makes sense if it costs less and its ratings are sufficient.

Question 3

Lexar NQ780 1TB vs 2TB: which should I get?

Accepted Answer

Choose the 2TB NQ780 if you need more space or want higher rated sequential performance and endurance: Lexar lists the 2TB model at up to 7,000/5,000 MB/s read/write and 1,200 TBW, compared with 6,000/2,500 MB/s and 600 TBW for the 1TB model. The 1TB version is the practical choice when its capacity and ratings meet your needs.

Question 4

Will this SSD fit in my laptop?

Accepted Answer

Its single-sided M.2 2280 design is intended to suit laptops, but the laptop must have a compatible M.2 PCIe NVMe slot and enough physical clearance. Check the laptop’s specifications before buying; M.2 slots do not all support the same interfaces or drive sizes.

Question 5

Does this SSD come with a heatsink?

Accepted Answer

No. The product specifications list it as having no heatsink. For PS5 installation, plan to use a separately purchased cooling solution that meets the console’s fit requirements; in a PC, check whether the system provides an appropriate heatsink or cooling arrangement.

Question 6

Can I use this SSD to expand PS5 storage?

Accepted Answer

The product listing describes the 1TB NQ780 as PS5-compatible, and its M.2 2280, PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe interface and up-to-6000 MB/s read speed align with key PS5 expansion requirements. It does not include a heatsink, so add a compatible cooling solution that fits the console before installation.

Question 7

Will it work in a desktop PC?

Accepted Answer

It can work in a desktop with an available M.2 2280 slot that supports PCIe NVMe drives. Check the motherboard’s manual for slot compatibility; the SSD uses PCIe 4.0 x4, and its listed maximum sequential speeds are up to 6000 MB/s read and 2500 MB/s write.

Question 8

Is the NQ780 a sensible choice as a secondary drive for games and files?

Accepted Answer

It may suit secondary storage for games and files: Reddit users discussing NQ780 drives describe them as adequate for gaming and secondary storage. The 1TB model provides 1TB of capacity and is rated for up to 6000 MB/s sequential reads and 2500 MB/s sequential writes.

Question 9

Is the Lexar NQ780 good enough for gaming?

Accepted Answer

It is a reasonable fit for game storage: the product is a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, and Reddit users discussing the NQ780 describe it as adequate for gaming. Actual performance depends on the computer’s M.2 slot and setup.

Question 10

Why might the NQ780 benchmark below its advertised speed?

Accepted Answer

The advertised read speed is up to 6000 MB/s, not a guaranteed result in every system. A Reddit user traced a low benchmark to a slower M.2 slot; check the slot’s PCIe generation and lane configuration if speeds are lower than expected.
