Good Budget Option 2/28/2019 4:41:51 AM

Pros: Can be had at low price on sale. No issues with performance.

Cons: As others have noted, small base and narrow stand = fairly wobbly monitor. I don't imagine this will be an issue for me, but could be for a more aggressive and intense gamer.

Decent cheap monitor 12/3/2018 4:35:06 PM

Pros: - Screen looks pretty great!
- Cheap

Cons: - Terrible stand... my monitor is practically a wobblehead if I so much as sneeze.
- Cheap

Overall Review: I got this for $80 including tax. You can't beat that price, so the cons are... forgivable, with a little reluctance. Would recommend for people using mounts, looking for a second display, or just looking to budget.

LG 24MC57HQ-P Glossy Black 23.8" 5ms Widescreen IPS Multi-Tasking Monitor DFC 5,000,000:1 (1000:1) HDMI 1920 x1080 w/ 4-screen Split 10/31/2018 4:05:54 AM

Pros: -I got two of these monitors to replace three ancient 17" monitors.
-Both worked great out of the box, no dead pixels. Set up was nothing.
-The colors are clear and crisp. White backgrounds are too bright, probably because my ancient monitors were too dim.
-The joy stick setup menu provides access to all set up and configuration options. It takes a little getting used to.

Cons: -The split screen does not really work with my dual setup. I had not planned on using it anyway.
-With HDMI monitor powers off rather than sleep mode. Kind of a bother, but I will get used to it. With vga, sleep mode works as expected
-The power supply is direct plug, taking up a huge amount of space on my power strip.

Overall Review: - Manufacturer included one vga cable with each monitor, no HDMI cable HELLO!! I include this as information rather than a con. I paid $99.99 and $0 shipping for each monitor, I am still ahead after buying two HDMI cables.
-I am giving this monitor 5 stars because it is well worth what I paid for it. It would still be an excellent monitor at $40 more.
-I have been using two of these monitors, every day, for over a year. Overall still satisfied. However, the idle power off "feature" with no way to modify settings is really frustrating. I am taking one star back.

Good picture. Ok stand. Bad power cable. 10/26/2018 10:37:14 AM

Pros: Good picture. I like the power button. Stand is ok. All for $109

Cons: Power cord (Adapter style) is wide unnecessarily. The cord is about a foot to short. The little cable control clip is easily to forget about. And ounce the stand is on the screen you can not take it off to put the clip on if you forgot it.

Overall Review: Good monitor for the money. Keep the Sub-D cable and fix the power cord would work..

Decent moniter for a great price 10/26/2018 8:24:22 AM

Pros: Decent inexpensive moniter with no large drawbacks.

Cons: I did have a little issue installing the stand. I am pretty sure it was user error though.
It does have a toggle button to turn off. If i had done more research given that i turn my moniter off every evening this would have been a deal breaker.

Overall Review: I would absolutely recommend this product. The few issue i have with this moniter are my personal preference and even then i do enjoy this moniter still.

Decent product terrible company 9/1/2018 11:43:26 PM

Pros: Works, has decent color/brightness/etc
Inexpensive IPS Monitor
Works well for all extremely basic monitor functions -see cons

Cons: If Windows or likely any other OS goes to a black screen display as part of a power saving mode, monitor will shut completely off, requiring physical reboot of the monitor. Ridiculous "Power Saving Feature" That cannot be turned off and LG does not acknowledge its existence anywhere I could find on their site or via Google

Website is a joke, took over an hour to determine the only software that can be downloaded for nearly all their current and former monitor lines is the same old stupid fake driver that just seems to let you see its name in Device Manager
Forget ever getting updated split screen or color cloning software. If you lose/damage/never receive your disc, your only option seems to be contacting a service rep and hope they don't charge you too much to fix it, and since I just discovered after lots of searching they call this a "business monitor" it's pretty much guaranteed to cost something.

For the same reasons above, you're one Windows update away from losing access to the software that co-opts your PCs hardware to deliver the monitor's "features," which may or may not be compromising your security, depending on which publication you believe.

Also, most settings seem to matter little, if at all, and blue light reduction basically means literally seeing red, as little else is visible -great if you like flying military aircraft at night and want your computer screen to match

Overall Review: If, like me, you plan on using this in an environment where you will have the monitor nearby even when not using it, eg. living room, and don't like to wait as long for your monitor to come off screensaver as it takes to boot an ssd-enabled PC, this is really, really not for you. Ditto if you suffer from migraines or simply want to reduce eyestrain and don't want to reconfigure Windows every time you just want to reduce a pending headache. If, however, you love headaches when trying to simply get something to work as well as ultra-cheap TN monitors of previous generations, this is the monitor for you! Seriously, it is easier to find drivers and Microsoft updates for Windows 98 -and yes, I mean in 2018- than it is to simply get the software for LG monitors from the web. Forget search engines, forget their site, if you don't know the ip address of someone who is likely illegaly hosting their software, you may be out of luck. Same can be said for solutions to the "power saving feature" listed above. Likely someone, somewhere, found a way to take the monitor apart, flash a hacked version of the firmware onto the board, and put the whole thing back together again, but unless you have lots of specialized tools, enjoy soldering, and love to write low-level machine code for South Korean hardware, you're out of luck.

Obviously, I had a better opinion of LG before I bought this thing. Looks like I'm now 3 for 3 on well-regarded South Korean manufacturers I plan to avoid in the future -not really allowed to list the others, but they're pretty obvious and ubiquitous.
Hope this helps someone, and that maybe LG is one of those manufacturers with Newegg reps willing to help their company's image. I doubt I am alone in my problems with these products and as such am glad I don't hold tech stock or that of any Asia-based companies. For that matter, I'd prefer not to hold stock at all.
