Can the stand be taken off and on?

Yes it can. I currently have it on a swivel mount. I believe it has the standard 2 screws on the back for the mount and screws on the bottom of the stand. Forgive me if I'm off about some things. If you need I still have the stand and can verify for you.

What is the refresh rate with DisplayPort or HDMI @ 2560 x 1080?

The included stand is for landscape orientation only but the monitor supports versa 75mm mounts so you can use an after market mount to mount it in portrait view

I Bought this exact model number from "Online Store X" (LG Electronics 25UM55-P 25-Inch) and trust me I quadruple checked, and after seeing this question both on "Online Store X" AND here at Newegg and seeing everyone answer no to the question of whether it has speakers or not, boggles my mind. My LG monitor, of this exact model number, most certainly does have built in speakers.

It says 2560 x 1080 14ms, 5ms (G to G). Is this not a constant 5ms respose time monitor?

The product info shows a .07" bottom bezel and no measurement for the top and sides. I'm looking to upgrade to 3 of the same monitors and plan on a setup with the two side monitors able to pivot from landscape to portrait and back so that the tops of them would at times be along the side of the middle one. How thin are the top and side bezels in inch's (fraction or decimal) and/or mm?

To answer my own question the physical side and top bezels are 1/16th" or less. That said at the native resolution of 2560 x 1080 with 2x R9 270X's in X-Fire there is still a 3/8ths" border around the left, right and top that the display doesn't use even though its part of the screen. If your looking to use this in a multi monitor set up because of the thin bezel this is not the monitor your looking for. Otherwise this monitor is awesome the picture is crisp, clear, bright, and simply amazing. I will soon have two of them and Eve is glorious even with one.

What is the height of the panel itself to the nearest millimeter or sixteenth of an inch? I am trying to compare this monitor to another one in fine detail. Thanks a lot for the information regardless.

The LG site shows the specifications in detail with and without the stand, in mm.  If you are asking about the screen without bezel, I am unsure.
