Does this actually have a VESA mount? I can't see any obvious signs in the pictures. Maybe under where the stand connects?

The included stand is mounted at the bottom edge of the monitor (removable). However there are the 4 standard VESA mount screw sockets, just above the center of the monitor on the back. They look to be 75mm, on center spacing. I've had mine for a few years, so I don't remember whether or not VESA mounting HW was included.

which pic is it the one from the midia or from the acutual pics at the begining?

Hey, I was confused by those pictures also! There is definitely something wrong with the images of the monitor in the Media section! The monitor (without the stand) is 28.7" x 16.7" as stated in the Cabinet section of the specifications. The display Aspect Ratio is definitely 16:9, not something crazy wide like it's shown in the Media section. The images at the top of the listing are more realistic for the size. I confirmed the specifications on the LG site before I bought mine and the monitor I received meets the specifications. I'm using it at my desk with a MacBook Pro and it works great!

It says 60hz for 4k what about 1440p will it be 144hz?

Unfortunately no. This monitor is only capable or 60 or 59 hz at other resolutions.

Question 4

Specifications says DisplayPort 1.2.  Can this be updated to DisplayPort 1.4 via a firmware update?

In reviewing the manual and the LG support page, there is no mention of any firmware updates for this monitor.
