Not that I recall.   It is a simple buy to get a cable .  I will say that this CD drive is the best one i have had to date.   Flawless rips and burns . Hope this helps.

No, this is a bare drive. Meaning that this drive is not packaged in retail packaging, and as such,  does not include software discs or a SATA cable.

Yes.  It is a SATA drive, and the desktop you mentioned has a SATA HDD, so I suspect that the pre-existing optical drive is also SATA.  If may need a SATA cable if you didn't have a pre-existing optical drive.

I was just wondering is there any need for firmware updates / drivers for this drive? I'm running Win7 x64 ultimate. I just ordered 2 of these to replace the two Samsung drives I have, they seem to be slowly dying, I'm having a very hard time getting them to read blank disc's and not to mention writing is even more of an issue and there are no updates from the Samsung site that are new. They are about 4 years old.

If you are comfortable with the process of bios and/or firmware upgrades, it is a good idea to keep your hardware up to date.  Most people don't have confidence or experience in the upgrade process, so it is safer for them to just leave their hardware at stock levels.  Understand that you won't typically see an dramatic change in hardware performance after an upgrade, but little things might be corrected.  In the case you described with your older hardware, it is time for an upgrade.  You will be impressed with the speed of the LG GH24SNB0.  It can deliver data at maximum speed for most of the burn process.  The drive will also read older and damaged disks that other drives can't read.  I have several of these drives and I plan to use them in all future projects.

Will this fit into a ASUS Model# G75VW Laptop?

No.  This burner has to be inserted into  a 5 1/2 inch half height bay which a laptop will not have.  It is designed to be inserted into a desktop with a spare 5 1/2 inch drive bay.

The easiest solution for a laptop would be to buy an external USB DVD burner.  They do have slim drives available but each manufacturer's requirments may differ making it very difficult to buy a drive off of the shelf that will simply plug into the laptop.  You don't have those issues with a USB drive.

2.  Will it work with XP?

Ah, there's the rub...  Though the specifications say the drive is XP compatible, I couldn't get it to work on my old XP box.  I bought the LG to replace a dying drive, and when I replaced the old drive with the LG and turned on the system, XP wouldn't boot.  I put back in the old drive and XP booted just fine.  It could be just a one-in-a-thousand defective drive, or some XP incompatibility, but here is one instance where the LG drive didn't work with XP.

Where can I find the drivers for this device?

I'll start by assuming that you want to use this drive with Windows and/or Linux.

Optic drives, such as CD, DVD, and Blu-Ray drives, have not needed drivers since the days of DOS. In Windows 95 and later, through Win 7 & 8, the OS (Windows) detects that a drive is an optic drive and treats it as such. But this treats them as read-only data drives.

In order to burn a CD, DVD, or Blu-Ray disk, you need burner software. Under Windows, I have used NERO for years. At one time, NERO came free with CD and DVD burner drives.

Under Linux, I use K3b. It came installed as part of my Linux distro, openSUSE 12.3.

Lastly, to play a DVD disk or Blu-Ray disk of a commercial movie,  you need software for doing so under Windows and Linux.

In Windows, I would use PowerDVD from CyberLink.Com. Windows Media Player in Windows 7 and 8 can play some disks with the right codecs, but the Windows Media Player is not going to work as well as PowerDVD or VLC. 
 
 I use VLC in both Windows and Linux. That's from VideoLan.Org. Commercial movie DVD's and Blu-Ray disks also have copy-protection to deal with. You need software to decode that as well.

So it's a little unclear what you want to do with this DVD drive - treat it as read-only data, burn disks like backups, or play commercial DVD movies. 
 
 In each case, there is a different answer to your question. And No, there is no shorter, more simple  answer. Sorry.

Is the model able to function on 220V electric power?  Thank you in advance.

Absolutely. The power for the drive is supplied by the computer power supply, so as long as your power supply can run on 220, you are all set.
