No is does not. I bought this in October 2014 but I have plenty of these SATA cables.  If you do not have one, just order one at same time. They are inexpensive.

The optical drive works very well. Windows XP Pro and Windows 7 64 bit Pro both picked it up right away.

Can I install windows with this drive?

I recently built a Win 8.1 System using this drive.  It worked fine for the Windows installation and motherboard drivers installations, right out of the box.  I didn't get around to making use of the installation disc that came with it until I completed all of my other primary program installations.  (Antivirus, Graphic card drivers, etc.)

ALL one does to the rear of this optical drive is to plug in a POWER CONNECTOR from your power supply cable  AND connect a SATA connector cable from the drive to a SATA connector on the motherboard.

No, the SATA cable to connect it to the motherboard is not included.  If you do not have one laying around, you can add one to your order from newegg. They are very inexpensive.

The drive works flawlessly and is recognized immediately by windows.

As this is a full size optical drive, it won't fit in any laptop. Probably going to have to go to Lennovo to get a different one, or some other e-tailer. I'm not even sure if the Egg has laptop drives.

No. This is a SATA device. You can, however, buy a ide to sata adapter here at Newegg or buy a SATA controller card.

Hey Sally,  I am assuming your question is asking, can you burn a dual-layer DVD?  If so, yes this device will burn the ~9GB discs, and should allow the use of either the +R and/or the -R discs.  Hope this helps.

Lots of info about burning discs...  Does it also read them?

All writers read discs.  Scroll down the Overview and you will see the section Transfer Rates - Read (Max) and find the specs for the read rates of the drive.

Will this work with Windows 10? I put it in and connected the SATA and power, but it's not appearing anywhere in My Computer or Device Manager. Is there something I need to do in the BIOS?

First, check your cables to make sure everything is connected correctly. Test the unit to see if the tray opens and closes properly. Double check your SATA cable. You might switch one of the SATA cables from another device (Faulty SATA cables CAN happen.) Then check your SATA  devises are all active in BIOS (some BIOS configurations ask you to set each one to specific SATA transfer rates.) Do you have another DVD Player or burner. Does it work? After that I can offer no other suggestions except an RMA. I use mine in a WIN10 environment and it picked it up perfectly and works fine.
