What are the posts on the right side for?  Is it a built-in coat rack?

i noticed that the keyboard tray is adjustable is it completely removable?

Yes ... you can have it completely off or when you have it in adjust the height ... same goes for the side pocket i dont have it on ...

How strong are the legs, does the desk feel sturdy while using it?  how about when the computer drawer is pulled out?

Legs are strong. I think the description said they are made from steel or something. Definitely not aluminium.

The desk is sturdy - it does not rock left-right or back-forth. However, when the drawer is fully open and you have no monitor on the opposite side (the back) to weigh it down, it tends to tip forward. It is very stable as long as you have a monitor or two at the back.

I'm very happy with mine.

Can two people sit at this desk comfortably?

It'd be tight. If your thought is, one person could have one comp and the other use the second on the same table, the second person will have a much smaller momo to work with (i.e. the mini itx board) meaning if you two wanted to both build ridiculous rigs, it prolly won't happen. I'd recommend just using it for yourself and using the second pc space for run a personal server or something. That's what I did. Think gaming rig, and a freenas system all in one package =)

Im considering one of the super large mouse mats by razer. what are the dimensions of the kbd tray? will the xl mat fit on it?

I don't use mouse pads, so I don't know if it'll fit, but I just measured it. It's roughly a trapezoid 42" 45.5" 10.5"

Is there a place to hold a surge protector in the back? I would want this desk in the middle of a room and wouldn't want wires all over the place

Yes, they give you about 4 inches of hidden space in the back for cables, which you can't see from the tempered glass.
