CM100 Resource Disk User Guide Power Adapter RJ45 Cable USB Cable
Pros: Extremely stable. Has been running for around 50 days continuously and hasn't needed a reboot or reset. Just plug it in...didn't need any more configuration than calling in my MAC address.
Cons: None!
Overall Review: I use this with Charter cable and a WRT54GS with DD-WRT installed. Neither device has required any maintenance. I use Netflix and Internet TV through Boxee primarily, so these devices are used hard each evening. It might just be placebo affect, but this modem does feel much faster than the cable company's. I have streamed about 50GB a month for two months without a single glitch of any kind...great modem!

One of the best, shows speeds8/13/2008 10:05:24 PM
Pros: I've always liked Linksys cable modems because they offer a large assortment of cable plant signal and provisioning information which the other modems don't. Downstream/Upstream power levels, downstream SNR, modulation for downstream and upstream, as well as channel ID and the ever-important provisioned rates (your caps) are all reported.
I have this working with Cox on the 20/2 tier and always see max speeds.
Cons: None that are serious, although the CM100's signal status page does take longer to load than it's predecessor, the BEFCMU10 v.4. This likely will be fixed in time with appropriate provider-supplied firmware updates. Otherwise, a small complaint for otherwise flawless service.
Overall Review: If you're going for one of the faster tiers or your care about actually seeing the status reporting built into your modem at http://192.168.100.1, this is the modem to get.
Pros: Fairly cheap modem - I'll break even after 11 months. I plan on sticking with Comcast for a long time so I have no doubt I will reach the break even point.
For Comcast customers: If you are replacing a leased modem, just hook up this modem and directly connect it to the ethernet jack of your computer. You can self-register the modem without having to call Comcast.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: I didn't realize that I could set up the modem myself. I ended up disconnecting my leased modem and hooking this one up and calling Comcast before opening a browser up on my computer. Had I opened the browser up right away, I'd see that it automatically brings me to a Comcast modem setup page where I could have done it myself. Luckily my phone wait time was less than a minute, so no big deal overall.
Comcast can't see my Linksys CM100 cable modem7/10/2010 10:56:14 AM
Pros: See Cons
Cons: When you first plug the modem in, do NOT hook up any routers, etc. Try to go to www.comcast.net. This should get you to the provisioning page, to activate the modem.
Then click the I am a customer link on the website. Then follow the software install to active your new modem. Fill in your account # & other info required.
Now hook your router back into the modem & power it up. Yes it is possible to provision a modem with a router but its more complicated. It is easier to make the router get a new IP address.
Pros: This replaced an aging Linksys BEFCMU10. Smaller footprint, runs cooler, (it doesn't have the cutouts to stack), and was very easy to connect. One call to Cox to change the MAC ID.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: This runs connected to a Linksys WRT600N, set up with WPA2/AES. Zero problems.
Pros: This modem is faster than I previously had, and you can definately tell the difference. This is the first modem I have had that I didn't need to reset every couple of days. I have never reset this one at all. Very simple to install. Hardest part was when I called in my MAC# to the cable company, could hardly understand what she was saying....haha
Cons: none
Overall Review: Great price and its from NewEgg, so I don't have to worry if it ever breaks down on me. Plus NewEgg stores your reciepts online and there always accessible.
