Question 1

I have the Arris/Motorola SB6141 with TWC as my ISP (50Mbps "Ultimate"). I seem to be having issues where the T3 and T4 errors keep causing reboots. Does this Linksys modem have any issues with TWC? I haven't found any problems reported online, but I am hesitant to spend a lot on a modem.

I run this modem on TWC with the Ultimate package, and have continuously since July, 2016 (3 months as of this posting). I have only needed to reboot the modem once myself since the initial setup, and have not experienced T3/T4 timeouts from this modem. On the whole, a very trouble-free history thus far and I'd highly recommend. Also, though if you do purchase this modem and get any new timeouts, I would turn the service request back onto TWC, and let them know the new modem is fully up to date to handle any bandwidth load they could think to throw at it, so they should start monitoring and checking their signal levels on the line feeding your residence. Will this modem create a Wi-Fi environment in my house? Thanks!!

This modem does not include Wi-Fi router capabilities.

If you're looking at this modem, my guess is that you are trying to get 802.11ac Wi-Fi.  There are several good routers you can use with this modem that can accomplish that.  I use an ASUS ac router, but Linksys also has a few good ac routers.  My throughput frequently exceeds the 150 mbps guaranteed number from my provider on multiple 802.11ac and 802.11n devices simultaneously based on speedtest benchmarks.

will this modem work with Verizon fios / frontier fios ?

It works with Time Warner, Call the support hot line for Verizon and give them the model number and manufacturer they should be able to tell you.  You have to call them anyway to register the MIC address to their network anyway, this will give you a start.  This modem has been great with ZERO issues.  Do check your router to make sure it is compatible and can handle the extra band width.

Does it have built in Parental Controls?

This router has built-in parental controls in the wed based setup page. The parental controls allows you to restrict internet access in two (2) ways. You can either block internet access during specific hours and days OR block internet access through specific websites.

I have the modem now, but it doesn't appear to have the web interface. Should be at 192.168.100.1 as other modems, but nothing comes up. Pings OK though. Is there a web interface on this Modem to check signal levels etc?

Accepted Answer

The modem does not have a web interface.  You must provide your internet service provider with the information on the back, e.g. mac address.  This modem requires a separate router.  You must connect a desktop or laptop computer, to your router, via an ethernet cable, and clone the mac address of the computer.
