I have Comcast's TV/Internet/phone bundled package. Will this work, and is it easy to install?

I also have Comcast for my broadband. Yes, it will work. Hooking up the modem was very simple. You will need to make sure that you have the Comcast Blast!® service to take advantage of the increased speed. From the Comcast site: "Get download speeds up to 50 Mbps and upload speeds up to 10 Mbps". You will also need to register the new modem with Comcast. I needed to upgrade to Blast!®. It took two calls to Comcast to get my service working correctly, but once it was fixed, I've sometimes seen speeds around 70 Mbps but always at least 50 Mbps. According to Comcast, the higher than promised speeds is affected by your geographic location in relation to there network centers.

how many ports does it have for phone connections?

Please note that this us a cable modem. This is not a DSL modem. A cable modem connects to your cable companies coaxial input and connects to your computer through an Ethernet RJ45 port. It does not have a port for phone connections. It has 1 coaxial input port, 1 Ethernet output port and 1 USB output port.

Is this modem wall-mountable?  The pics do not show the underside of the modem.

yes it is. It has 2 mounting holes on the front bottom corners that will slide down over a small nail or screw

Only 1. This is a standalone modem with no routing functions. If you want multiple ports you will need to add in a router to your network or get a combo (I would not recommend the combo route).

Is this modem compatible with wireless routers?

Absolutley. You will connect this modem to your routers internet port with a standard cat 5 cable. You will have to call your internet provider when you first set this modem up, theyll need the model, serial number, and MAC address.

I have Mediacom as my provider, is this compatible with Mediacom?

I don't know Mediacom. But I would not purchase this particular version of this modem. This version of this modem has firmware that enables it to make the connection and take you through the setup for Comcast. To get it setup and working on any other cable provider's system would require you to have the knowledge of and the skills to enter the particular settings for Mediacom into the modem.

Call Mediacom and ask which modems they support and buy one of those. You can ask Mediacom if their tech support will help you configure this modem, but that is risky if you are not very technical.

I do not know if it is compatible with Cox since I use Comcast. Prior to purchasing, I checked the Comcast website for which modem they would support.

Your question is a hair vague, but I think I can cover what you need.

This item is not a router, it is only cable modem. Note that this device in and of itself does not have wireless network broadcasting hardware in it. This item would be hooked to your broadband service providers line, then connected to a computer or a wired network by an Ethernet Cable. Note connecting a computer directly to this device is not recommended because it does not have a firewall built into it.

In order to have a wireless network, you'll need to have a wireless router or a wireless access point to use in conjunction with this item connected to it via the Ethernet Port. The range of your wireless would be directly dependent on the wireless router's or wireless access point's broadcast strength, and what the structure of the walls are made of.

If you were simply asking if this can be on another floor but connected to a device, a computer or a wireless router on another floor, the answer is yes. But you'll need to have an Ethernet Cable routed between the locations of the modem and the device you need to connect it to.

I need a modem with telephone jacks for two lines in addition to all the others - I use Comcast and am tired of renting their equipment. What do you suggest?

This is my opinion, here is what I would do.  1. Contact Comcast and find out if they allow customers to provide their own modems.  2. Find out what modems their system will work with.  3. Find out if any of their recommended modems will answer your question. 4. Find out what your bill will be if you do provide your own modem as you may only get a partial savings.  It pays to ask.  However I may be wrong but so far my experience has been limited to 2 Internet Providers one cable and the other DSL (phone line).  The cable modem has no provision for a phone line whereas the DSL does.  As far as I know Comcast is cable.
