I have a steel garage and I can't get wifi there! Will this do the job?

It may, but the metal building is probably shielding any wifi signals.  For a metal building, I would recommend an inexpensive outdoor antenna mounted to the outside of the building with a cable running inside to the adapter.  As far as range on this RE1000-NP, I was not impressed.  It had a good broadcast range, but I could not position it very far from my router without losing the signal.  I had to keep it withing about 30 to 40 feet of the router but it did extend the signal out another 50 feet or so.

why does 1 image show cisco on it and scroll further down and image shows Linksys?

Linksys was founded in 1988. It is currently owned by Belkin who bought it from Cisco who owned it from March 2003 to March 2013. It's  products were branded as Linksys by Cisco when it was part of Cisco.

This product is Windows specific. If you have Windows 8, it will not work properly.

This re1000-np.range extender. Only press button end start werk or need adjustment with PC.or laptop?

I'm about 99% percent sure that all you needed to do was hook up to the back of your existing router with an ethernet cable (provided) and it completed the setup all on it's own.  View the manual from the linksys web site to be sure.  I do remember that it was one of the easiest setups ever and for me it worked great.

Does it work with AT&T Modems?

As long as the device y are using this with is WiFI Certified (carries the WiFi certification logo) then it will work with it.  Typically a "modem" doesn't have any wifi capabilities, whereas a "gateway" deice (modem and router combo) does, and AT&T uses many different devices, so I cannot say with certainty that it will work with your particular device.  Look for the logo and you are good, or post the exact model number of your device in the question and we can check it.

how do you change networks on this?

What do you mean?  This device syncs with the main router via wireless and extends the range of the primary device.  This is a single network device.

was just wondering if this product can be strictly used for an android smartphone??.

This device is simply a wireless repeater and it will work with any 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless device, which includes Android devices.  However, I have used this device in a very crowded wireless environment, think Manhattan apartment building, and it only made things worse.  If you think this might apply to you, I would suggest buying a good router capable of running DD-WRT firmware.  There are even wireless routers that come pre-installed with it ready to go.  You used to be able to purchase them on Newegg but it's been a while since I've looked.

Does this devise work for a timewarner internet modem that is plugged in via a cable line?
Also what is the return policy and what is the return fee (shipping & handling?)

I am pretty good with electronics and computers.  I could not get this device to work consistently and stay working.  In addition, when I tried to return it they charged me a 15% restocking fee (which they refunded after I complained because I am a long time customer) and I had to pay the shipping.  I loved the concept, but the product did not deliver reliably.

What is the difference between the RE1000 and the RE1000-NP?

The only difference is that the NP is a Cisco branded item and the other is a Linksys branded item.  Google it.  It works amazingly well.

I am looking for a device to convert my ethernet signal (RJ45 Fios Signal) to a wi fi signal at a lower level in our house.  Wifi signal with Fios router will not reach lower level.  I have several RJ45 plugs with ethernet connections.  Will the Linksys RE 1000-NP convert the ethernet signal to wifi?

The Ethernet port is an "out"port.

Question 10

can I use this product as a bridge for my pioneer receiver sc-1222-k to my network? 
My receiver needs to connect to the web to be able to play music from Pandora etc.

This product is not designed to be a bridge for non-wireless products, but it does work that way.  We used one as a combo bridge/repeater in a living room on a bluray player so that the non-wireless player had access and the other nearby devices used the repeated signal.  Be aware, if your existing wireless is too far away to reach the device this will not work, and if it is too close to your wireless it may actually interfere with it instead of helping.  You'd be better suited to using a product like the WET610n or similar bridge for this purpose, but we have been able to use the RE1000-NP.  You WILL NOT be able to get support for this configuration, and you MUST use a desktop or laptop to join this to your wireless network BEFORE you attach it to the sc-1222-k player.  MAKE SURE IT IS JOINED TO THE NETWORK BEFORE YOU EVER ATTEMPT TO CONNECT IT TO THE sc-1222-k!!!
